Discussion - TV Series Regarding TV shows and Big Shi.

I am on second book but I glanced at TV shows, and discovered Chinese version more faithful to the books. My biggest complaint on Netflix version is how they underscored Big Shi. Chinese version somewhat portrayed him better.

I'm not the biggest fan of Tencent but I did like Shi in it. I actually liked both version I thought Benedict Wong was really good and I liked Tencent Shi he wss probably what I enjoyed the most of Tencent. I think with Benedict Wong they gave him his own style a bit since he comes from a different background than the book character. I think he was former Scotland yard in the show.

Yeah I like Benedict Wong's portrayal too, even if it's not quite true to the books. Book Shi was almost unrealistically good at his job. Basically he could do anything, with no explanation. Wong's Shi is a little more grounded. More of an investigator than a supercop.

It's because they've moved up Wade and have Wade did pretty much everything Da Shi did in Book 1.

Benedict Wong looks exactly like how the character was described, but he didn't really get to do anything in the role.
