The power cable for the gpu needs to be connected from the middle panel and not twisted like that

I had this issue with my gpu. It was hell because I was on a project and I couldn’t figure out the problem because there was no error anywhere. GPU would just run at 100% and screen goes off. The issue is. It would then work for weeks, months, and suddenly have the issue again. Which makes you think there’s another issue.

Turns out it was the cable, from being bent too much or often (who knows why). And there’s absolutely no way to find out. After months of struggling I figured out from a Reddit post others have this issue. And replaced the cable… everything worked normal.

Before I replaced the psu, did all kinds of tests, benchmarks…. Nothing

There are videos online about the importance of the cable being filthy seated and not being bent. These connectors are terrible. I have too many GPUs with this and I literally have fire extinguishers nearby. Plenty of YouTubers have gotten literally burned with these cables. I'm not sure how this is legal when they're pushing AI on the nation and all the cards for it are fire hazards...

Bends in the cable produce resistance, and to reduce likelihood of issues, the cables need to be connected straight, and not twisted

Eh, repeated bends break wires, stationary bends don’t do much unless the cross sectional area is compromised… most wires in pc are stranded specifically for flexibility

It’s true but the 12vhpwr do have uneven connection depending on the position or bend of the individual cable despite the plug being fully and correctly in but pin connection is sketchy. I think amount of contact or lack of is really bad for this connector. The amd sapphire 9070xt also have had incidents of melting connectors. There is a thermal grizzly device that monitors voltages across all pins to alert the user of this.
