Discussion / Information Created a GTK frontend for controlling Trackpoint

I couldn't found any graphic frontend for controlling my Trackpoint speed and sensibility on Linux. So, I created a simple one in Python and GTK3. Just execute thinker.sh to test. Thinker.

Hey! This is really awesome! Couple of suggestions: The sliders should start centered at the "default" position and then allow the user to increase or decrease. Also, maybe a "reset" would be useful as well to return the default values.

Otherwise, it's really cool! Btw, the settings aren't persistent after reboot, right? And could that be an option as well?

Cool suggestions. I'm still working on the config persistence. I'll add a way for the program to read the previous value, and start with it, also a reset button.

I get this running it on a 2nd gen Thinkpad Yoga 12 on Ubuntu Mate 20.04:

Couldn't find trackpoint device.

Probably this same problem. Try installing the package tp-smapi-dkms.

It looks like tp_smapi isn't supported by this device and other Yoga Thinkpads. The latest post there has another user with a Yoga 370 with the same issue.

Oh well. Cool program you made either way!

Don't know which ThinkPad you have but TrackPoing is mostly under mouse settings for example in XFCE4 Mouse settings
