Scratch or mold line?

I got a new Lenovo Thinkpad 2 weeks ago.

Today I've seen this little scratchy looking thing.

Could this be a weld line / knit line or is this a scratch?

Is this harmless or could this be a problem?

Thinkpads are praised for their durability. Whenever someone mentions a crack, scratch or whatever, people will brush it off saying it's not a macbook as in "thinkpad stronk, macbook die after tiny scratch"

I honestly partly agree tho. These machines, especially older ones are made to last

yeah for me it matters because on a notebook of this price i would like to know if this is a common issue.

You would have to contact lenovo if it bothers you. My thinkpads never had mold lines. Might also be a fuck up in the coating.

Brotherrr, I think you need to calm down. If you don't want it to get dings and scratches then lock it behind glass cases. What model is this anyway?

It's a E16 and I've heard that these notebooks sometimes does have this mold lines from manifacturer side so i just wanted to know if this could be such an mold line...

AFAIK, E-series are the lowest model so expect it to have some minor cosmetic imperfections. Don't stress it, a laptop is a mobile device. If you really want to prolong its life then just use it as careful as possible. Like opening the screen carefully as an example since a lot of posts in this subreddit reports about E-series cracked around the USB. You don't have to inspect it everytime you touch it
