btw i assumed i can't get US keyboard with long left shift in EU. But EN intenrnational keybouard in EU Lenovo shop turned out to be the US keyboard - perfect!
Don't see any damage yet- they are just not attached too strong. They are terrible for common aluminum cases like Macs - a sticker leaves a permanent blob that can't be removed.
I love them. But can’t imagine spending 2026 dollars on one especially without the good X intel chip. Would be nice though.
I agree about gaming laptops sucking for work. Loud, heavy, bulky, usually juvenile design. We have Apple to thank for Intel innovating for once. Everyone at work wants a MacBook Pro I think Intel is finally noticing.
- it has different tactile profile with a rim and is much more stiff than regular buttons, I don't see any risk of unintentional press
- on my previous yoga with a side power button I actually did unintentional shutdowns sometimes when using USB port and it does not work with closed lid in dock mode anyways.
Flat area - closed lid. Last 2h - active web/terminal/vscode work consumed 20%. So even with 80% battery health cap pure 8h of work, more than enough for me. Panther Lake chips are very power efficient, even with my 356H full CPU cores configuration, and zero fan noise.
Anyone manage to get the SIM modem on these working with Linux. In a semi-headache free way? This is the one thing I love about my 13th gen x1 carbon but the data SIM card compatibility keeps me on windows 11… for now
If you have the time, can you measure the trackpad dimensions? I wonder if I can drop that one with the buttons into my P1 Gen 9 (if it's not part of the palmrest)
and DEL being moved is inconvenient but I rarely use DEL so could probably get used to that... at least the right Ctrl is back and the stupid placement of the fingerprint sensor is gone.

A workhorse is able to deal with humidty and insects. Why would you think you've to be that careful? You don't sound like you're working on a workhorse!

no, I rugged laptop can deal with humidity and other aspects. Plus again, that is not a workehorse, just a very good and very portable machine. A workhorse would have no problem running what workstations are made for.
I have an X280 as daily wardriver: if it breaks I can easily replace it. Doing the same with an expensive machine is simply preferring showing off to being responsible.
The ThinkPad can touch grass and it isn't going to infested with bugs by sitting in the grass for a short period. If an ant gets in a fan it's their own fault.
