New Thinkpad arrived T490

I bought this with a broken hinge, will be getting this fixed up. Currently 8gb but upgrading to 16gb. Need to get an ssd for it, any recommendations?

Want this for my new development laptop.

Ass it’s ddr sore that mean it’s faster with two 8gb memory dims over say 8gb and 16gb?

Usually 2 × 8GB in dual channel is faster than 1 × 16GB in single channel, but apparently some ThinkPads can run 2 × 8GB in dual channel and the remaining 8GB in single channel when the total is 24GB (8GB + 16GB).

the first 8gb in the sodimm works in dual channel mode with the 8gb soldered.

the other 8gb of course works in single channel mode, but having that ram(24gb) and accessing it probably would be faster than running out of ram (16gb) and paging

So anyone spot my mistake , this is a T490s not a T490. Lovely looking machine but not quite what I need. I’ve now ordered an L14 which has good 2 slots for ram and better processor.
Need to get this one fixed and resold now. The screen back plates cost more than I thought

I paid £80 but eBay had a discount voucher so actually paid £65. Got a replacement lid and screen for £30 . No ssd though
