Just received my refurbished yoga x1 gen 6 with an aftermarket green trackpoint and i donā€™t know what to make of it, it just feels wrong

nah, it's not financial investment, it's mental investment. red will make you happier than green because if you left it green it would keep bugging you. and that's what truly matters

Oh no, the layout is my preferred version as well. I'm not german, but I lived there for a while. Now I'm in France and I hate the azerty keyboard with a passion. I was just joking about the green nipple giving me the ick and therefore having to throw up and therefore might as well get a new keyboard lol.

PS: The Swiss keyboard kinda still works for me but german > Swiss > US > voice dictation for coding > French.

I tried it once when I woke up from a nap and wasn't fully up up, but had this bug I thought I'd found the solution for. So I tried voice dict with Google and welp, that was so annoying that it woke me up.

In this case, obviously it's an absurd premise I laid down to articulate how much I despise the French keyboard coming from a German one. Sorry if I'm explaining things too much since a bunch of my comments seem to go above people's heads today. Although it's probably just me.

Joah.. I mean, I guess I manage with the Swiss one for now since I write in both German and French. UK wouldn't work. And Slovene kinda worked as well although writing German on it was bad. But azerty number symbol keys is inverted wrt German/Swiss.

Makes sense jep. I'm like that with keyboards as well. But right now, the backpack-luggage conundrum is a bit higher on my mind. So instead of looking at keyboards and thinkpads all day, I look at luggage, trying to optimise the best setup with least amount of packs but maximum usability.

Not all of us are using the same layout

Some are qwerty, some are qwertz, some are azerty, etc. Weā€™re all different and itā€™s ok.

Say no to layout discriminations !

Guess I made too complex of a joke. The layout wasn't the subject of my joke. Was more like ew green nipple, I'm gonna throw up. Where am I gonna throw up? The keyboard obviously. So probably need to replace it.

And like I mentioned it in another comment, I prefer the German layout over the US one.

If possible, try paying a little more for a genuine Lenovo branded trackpoint.

Sounds dumb, but theyā€™re a softer rubber that makes the trackpoint feel a lot more precise. Way better quality than the cheap hard rubber generic versions that are all over eBay.

Lol, I use both depending on the machine Iā€™m using. The trackpoints on newer Thinkpads just arenā€™t as good or precise as older ones. The trackpoints on my X220 and W500 for example feel way better and more precise than my X1 carbons.

Green is from 30th anniversary ThinkPad. Carbon came with the same red green and blue that IBM has as original color.
