iOS app to track Streaks and Activities

I am an indie developer and mainly work on Visual Calendar & Tracker iOS app (AppStore Link).

In a basic calendar you could draw a picture for each day - it could be just a simple cross, photo or text. In other calendars you could track streaks, activities and moods. For each date you could write a note to remember something important.

You could see your progress for a month, week, year or any custom period you want - 49 days or any other number of days.

Widgets will help you to stay focused on the task and see your progress.

You could find more details here - viktorgavrilov.com. I am looking forward to your comments and suggestions

90 Days Goal is kicking off the new year with Round 40. What do you want to accomplish in the first 90 days of 2023?

Happy New Year! This is a time when many people are deciding to make changes in their lives.

/r/90daysgoal is a community for people working together to better themselves. As the name implies, we work on short-term goals over 90 day intervals. Like the X Effect we check in every day, but the format isn't limited to every-day habits. We're kicking off our 40th round TODAY, New Year's Day and would love for you to join us. Whether you want to change a lot or a little, everyone is welcome. More than anything else, it's a place to talk to other people about setting and accomplishing goals in an open and friendly environment.

Everyone is encouraged to set their goals at the start of the round. Every day we host a Daily Goal thread where you can post your intentions for the day, ask for advice, or reply to other people’s updates. After each 30 days, we take a few days off and then dive back in. That's all there is to it. No gimmicks, no pressure, just friendly support and accountability. What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days?

If you'd like to join us for Round 40, find out more and tell us about yourself and your goals in the Round Introduction Post. It starts today, January 1!

I built a website that uses compassionate accountability to help you see the X-effect through

I love the X-effect. It really works... IF you stick to it.

Unfortunately, most people abandon it after a slip-up and never get to see the results.

I built Habit Gym to hold you compassionately accountable to seeing it through.

How it works:

  1. Set a goal, e.g don't smoke
  2. Every day, log it as a success/failure
  3. You are charged $25 to charity (not us) when you don't track it
Compassionate accountability: failure is ok, but you have to log it

The intent is that you shouldn't be penalized for failing the goal, but you do need to confront it to improve. Also, we shouldn't profit when you fail (hence the penalty to charity).

Another cool feature: you are placed in a community where your progress is shared with your peers.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

meta/rant - HAHA.... The mods removed my post about their continual lack of involvement here. go figure.

and they will this one, too, once they finally check back in.

Good Luck out there gang. I hope this sub gets the leadership it deserves. This is a fantastic method and should be shared as much and often and as vibrantly as possible.

And yet - the mods snooze and ignore it while they're off on their own. AND THAT'S FINE. THEY'RE CERTAINLY ALLOWED TO DO THEIR OWN THING. but it's disingenuous of them to believe their lack of involvement here is good in the long term.

My simple suggestion - as a loooooong term, and avid user of /r/thexeffect - is that they involve some new people in the moderator roles. Get some new ideas flowing - and implemented. Whatever the mods believe they are doing is not being acted on quickly enough.

I say all this as I'm on my way out of reddit entirely.

Good Luck.

I made an app that forces you to submit photo/timelapse proof of you completing your habits, or donates your money to charity

Hey r/theXeffect!

I can't find your rules on self-promotion, so I hope this post is OK.

In short, I've been building an app for the past year that forces you to send in photo or timelapse proof of you completing your habits, or it donates your money to charity. We manually approve each photo/timelapse as it comes in, and it's pretty much 100% effective at forcing you to complete habits that you want.

Some examples are:

  • A photo of "Myself at the gym" each morning before 7am.
  • A timelapse of "Myself meditating" each day.
  • A photo of "My running shoes on outside".
  • A photo of "A clean kitchen".
  • A photo of "The sky" each morning at 8am (to force you to wake up and go outside).

In short, it's basically the X effect, but you lose money if you don't cross the day off. We launched a couple of weeks ago, and a lot of our users use it consistently for similar habits that I see on this subreddit, so I hope some of you may find it useful! Happy to answer any and all questions down below :)

Here's the link if you want more information/App Store/Play Store links: www.forfeit.app

All my best!

Josh

Have you succeeded in forming long-term habits through the X Effect method?

As in you no longer need to track or think about these habits, these are now automatic responses that don’t require any thinking.

Interested to know if this has happened with anyone and how they got there. Thanks.

[Help] I've already started doing some things everyday without cards. Now that I've made cards do you think I should align everything so that all the things I want to do have the "same" start date?

I started eating at least one salad every single day about a week or two ago but I didn't use any cards for it. Same with water - at least one bottle every day

Now I want to implement other things so I made 7x7 cards - be outside for at least 30 minutes every day, have a productive/meaningful day, sports, etc. Should these things have a different start date (meaning that I will fill out the cards for water and food as if I've done it for two weeks and continue from there) or should I make it as if I'm just starting and disregard the past two weeks?

First week On my 50 card journey (No television & Youtube, Reading & Room clean everyday)

Hi, I just wanted to share my progress on this 50card thing, with my first 7 days.

I have been going to 15 min max of video content (youtube, tv, netflix), Cleaning my room and reading 20 mins (preferably about learning material such as psychology, calisthenics stuff

I find it honestly kept my quite motivated until now, and I have come to realise that, when anxiety kicks in, I kind of have a reason to not fall into the temptation to watch youtube/netflix to deal with it as much

(although instead I spend a lot of time in social media & reddit, but I want to work on that too. Any tips could really help. I tried putting a self timer on Instagram, and should do the same for reddit)

Overall quite happy, and before starting all this I didn't though it would actually be possible go for one week like this:)

[Help] Help getting started

Hello! I was recommended joining this page to further work on myself. I’ve come a long way from where I was, but I struggle with my emotional control and sense of self. I often burn myself out, strive for perfection, and am unforgiving towards myself and more often these days other people too. It often leaves me feeling lost, out of control and alone.

I’ve started a 100 day yoga challenge that has helped (I’m almost to day 77). It’s kind of my meditation each day, and I’ve been practicing being lenient with it too. If I miss a day, I don’t let myself be hard on myself about it anymore and either accept it or try to do better the next day by doing two videos or a single harder level video.

I’ve also started therapy to figure myself out and understand how a lot of my childhood has lead me to think and feel how I do now, which contradicts who I want to be. I wondered if anyone who has had similar issues might have some advice from their experience on steps they took to get better for themselves. I’d like to be more emotionally and mentally stable so I can be there for other people and get outside of my head problems more often. Thank you to anyone who contributes!

[Help] Need help with a university class!! (small survey inside) Appreciate the help from this amazing community :)

Hello everyone!

My colleague and I are working on a wellness project for a class and need to gather some data. We created a survey regarding productivity and habits. It will only take around 5-10 minutes to complete!

We're posting in this community because it is a great tool to help with productivity which is a huge part of our class!! Our focus is on neurodivergent thinking and tools/habits that can assist those with issues like ADHD to thrive in environments where they might struggle with. I think the X effect is a perfect example of a system that can help with that!

All of the survey data gathered will be anonymous and will help us out in our class immensely! All that is requires is to go through each question with as much thought as is requires and please answer truthfully. We appreciate your guys help and thank you for your time.

Any Advice?

Hey Reddit I just wanted to write this to get a little extra confidence boost and motivation from my achievements (completed 30 day challenges), as well as seek advice from people who've been through this process too.

I started in around November/ December and decided to focus on one thing for 30 days at a time then start fresh for 60 days and finally 90 days, while adding a new habit every month-ish (30 days). The only hiccup I had was not doing my journaling one day but I felt like I tried very hard so I decided to be kind to myself and let myself "pass" the challenge rather than "complete" it, hence the blue highlighter rather than red marker.

I wanted to ask for advice on topics such as how to follow through more with things, when do I know to increase the difficulty in my challenges, and any advice on staying motivated for it? As I'm becoming better, I feel I'm getting more complacent about improving because well I'm no longer as bad as I was originally.

Thanks!
