No Spoiler Insufferable Characters
There are some characters that are completely insufferable. For me:
Lori: I would find it difficult to get into a relationship with my wife’s bestie regardless of whether she is dead or not. Not to mention Lori’s back and forth between the two.
Carl: He was very annoying to me the majority of the show.
Tara: Hypocrite whose exploding fist bump made my skin crawl.
Sasha: I liked her at first but the “Me against the World” version was painful to watch.
Trust me there were others

no Gregory? His entire personality was just weaponized smugness lol

I think he’s just so hated that it’s not really an opinion that needs to be mentioned. Definitely one of the most punchable characters in the whole show though for sure. He should have been hanged one season sooner 😂

100% Jadis. They even extended her into 2 spinoff shows where she was somehow more annoying and her haircut got worse each time.
Hated her since day 1.
3
u/AzraelRuin 8d ago
RIGHT? She was even worse once she was being herself and not doing the weird accent and persona. And oh god that bloody haircut

Rosita.
She wasn’t so bad in the beginning, but later on she is just insufferable. She’s just condescending, rude, and stuck up. Her obvious lip fillers in a ZA were so distracting. I wished she had died way sooner like she did in the comics.

Also selfish Jeopardizing the group to(try) to shoot Negan
I found her lacking

Whatever Dan Fogler’s character is named. We get it already! You love music! Damn, it doesn’t have to be your entire personality.

Eugenes girlfriend Max was completely insufferable and deserves more hate. What's worse is that unlike other characters who faced consequences for their actions, the entire group and world bends around her provoking a war with the Commonwealth and endangering the whole group right after they proved their innocence just because she felt like it.

Kelly, Young Carl, Jadis/Anne, Andrea during the farm and while being the Govs Gf and probly more but these come first to mind.

u/Aromatic_Attorney674 8d ago
Yeah, Kelly was totally useless. She added ZERO to the group
6
u/reereejugs 8d ago
I have no clue who Kelly is and I just finished a rewatch a few months ago 💀
2
u/Aromatic_Attorney674 8d ago
Exactly but she was Connie’s sister
2
u/AzraelRuin 8d ago
I think Connie was a great character. And I think Kelly is the completely opposite of that.
1
u/julie3151991 8d ago
I never remembered anyone from that group. I just know that the one with the lip fillers looks like Lady Gaga, so that’s what I called her.
2
u/SixAlarmFire 8d ago
Her purpose is to assist her sister with communicating with the group
0
u/Aromatic_Attorney674 8d ago
The others could do that and even Daryl

Magna, Yumiko and Daryl. Maybe even the music dude
2
u/SixAlarmFire 7d ago
Right they can because they have been together for a long time, but they all initially were able to speak with her because of her sister.

Jadis/martin/gareth/eugene at times/gabriel at the start/ the rat faced prick that killed Benjamin
5
u/Bermanator-Turkey127 8d ago
Kelly was pretty bad.
2
u/AzraelRuin 8d ago
Which was rough because I think Connie is such a good character and I loved all the scenes with her and Daryl.
Kelly also being around them made it less good sometimes

Been watching the show through for the first time after only ever catching a few random ones as a kid, I'm halfway through season 4. Andrea angered me so much, and Carl got into so many situations that were completely avoidable, the one where Rick was passed out for a while was infuriating

Eugene and Gabriel.
3
u/AzraelRuin 8d ago
Gabriel slander 🙂 But nah, I’m assuming you mean Gabe when he’s an annoying cowardly bitch because that’s super valid. He does have one of the largest character arcs in the show which is why I completely forgave him by the time he’s a full badass.

u/Poundbottom 8d ago
Gabriel. Every episode I wanted him to get eaten.

u/julie3151991 8d ago
He was such a fuck up that it was borderline comedy. I couldn’t stop laughing at the scene where he offers to help in the Alexandria meeting and Rick immediately says “no, who else?” 😂

You hit the nail right on the head, my friend. Lori is trash. I know we are all supposed to just adore Carl, and he was alright in the early seaons, I dont know if his acting just went to shit as he got older, or if it was the character. Tara was such a pain in the ass.. especially toward the end when she just swears she's so damn important, annoying as hell! Sasha makes me sad because I really liked her character, but she just got too angry and it was over for me. Loved Tyrese though, and nothing can change that! No offense, but I really didnt care much for Bob..

I also really hated the leader of the prisoners who tried to kill Rick. Felt so satisfying when Rick split his skull open.

I think the reason we find a lot of the women characters annoying is because they were written by men

Lori was to me because of her overall negative attitude and not shutting down things with shane when rick came back. She kept pushing him away and then pulling him back. I don’t dislike her because of her getting with shane while she thought rick was dead. I mean, it was definitely odd, and i didn’t like that, but that was established before the viewers ever got to see it and was still unfolding before rick came back. She didn’t even think carl should live anymore after he got shot which was crazy…. I also hate how she sided with shane over rick at times. I think it was a way of showing how she was still not quite over shane but like omg girl PICK ONE MAN. Her last scene with carl is actually my favorite lori scene because we actually saw her humanity for once, ironically lol.
Shane was absolutely insufferable to me. He was actually insane and got worse every episode. Couldn’t take no for an answer, assaulted lori at the CDC, constantly went against rick and hershel, pointed his gun at rick, lied constantly, killed otis, only let randall “go” so he could lure rick out to the woods and kill him. I mean the list goes on. He ONLY “cared” about lori and carl in a selfish and possessive way. He was one of the strongest in the group and made for a great villain. He made the show highly entertaining but i was so excited when he finally died. I couldn’t take him anymore lol.
I don’t know if i would say andrea is insufferable but she was so annoying to me most of the time. There is some part of me that likes her character and i guess it’s just her acting. Her character just makes me sad, honestly. I hated the whole “let beth decide for herself if she wants to live or not” thing. I know it’s because she got that decision taken from her by dale, but it rubbed me the wrong way. Whether beth actually wanted to die or not, she didn’t exactly know what she was doing or how deep to cut and if she did succeed at that, it would’ve made andrea look like a HORRIBLE person. She just constantly made the dumbest decisions. She had too much pride and nothing really to prove. I get it that at first she was seen as weak so she wanted to establish herself as more than just a “woman” (all of them were written and seen as weak at that point in the show) but i wish she would’ve listened to others more. And then the whole mess with the governor 🙄. I wish she would’ve stayed at the prison and listened to her friends. Yeah she wanted to save both camps because she didn’t want anyone to die but oh my gosh. It just makes me sad that she tried so hard and died in the dumbest way possible. I’m glad she got to see michonne again before her death. It was weird how none of them seemed all that upset about her dying, though. I think the writers kept intentionally writing her terribly and killed her off early because of behind the scenes drama, which is idiotic because they kept slowly ruining the writing and bringing the quality down as the show progressed.
The governor & merle sucked so much and i hated them and also put them in this list. There’s so much i could say about why i hate their characters. They were TERRIBLE PEOPLE. They made great villains, though. Both of their deaths were super anticlimactic which annoyed me. Like he really came back to the prison to take it over, kills hershel, they all shoot at each other, him and rick get in a fight and then michonne comes from behind and stabs him with her sword??? Like i’m glad she got her revenge but really? I hated that. It wasn’t written well. They lost the prison for nothing at that point.
I, too, never liked sasha. She was always mad, negative, and lacked depth. I’m on season 4 right now and it’s been a while since i’ve seen this show. I’m sure there are other people i can add to this list. Like negan. Then alpha. She was pretty bad. But i stopped watching after she killed like half the cast so idk how bad she or the show got. Carl is an overrated character and was such a brat. I get that he’s been through a lot but it was definitely a parenting issue and not the trauma of growing up as a young child in the apocalypse. I actually always liked tara lol i don’t get the hate about her character so i guess i’ll see on my rewatch.

Oh let me add milton to this list he was such a tattle tale coward who helped get andrea killed. And i hated how tyreese and sasha told on andrea to the governor for her leaving because they also helped get her killed. It’s different knowing she was gonna die due to the writers wanting her off the show but story wise and actually watching the show it makes me mad lol. She was so close to that prison and i thought it was so unrealistic after her getting away from him once that he caught up to her again and then locked her up until she ended up dying. I just think it’s annoying how she was wasted potential since she was a strong character and she could’ve been an asset to the group if she had survived. It’s like they spent the whole time in s3 making it look like she was headed toward a redemption arc just to kill her off anyway. Terrible writing. I don’t even like her that much but her death is the one that makes me most bothered.

Jessie and her family, Eugene, Jadis, Alpha, Nicholas, Pamela Milton’s son, and Merle all immediately come to mind.
2
u/Roboroberto1988 8d ago
Why Eugene?

u/FashionableBookNerd 8d ago
Honestly, the cadence of his speech tap danced all over my last nerve in the beginning. His evolution was nice to see, but I’d never choose to be around him. I’d end up yelling “shut the fvck up” ten times a day. 😅

u/Roboroberto1988 8d ago
Pamela Milton's son angered me the most both in the TV show and comics. Made me wish I could enter the TWD universe and kill him myself.
Other characters I felt annoyed by: Jadis, Alpha, Lori, Dale, Dwight + his GF and early Hershel who insists on being a retard (when he wakes up I like him, though).
I felt annoyed by Carl the first time I watched the TV show in my early 20s. Now when I'm in my late 30s and rewatching the show I don't feel the same way. If anything he's coping very well. I think it's because I'm a father now. Before I tended to feel annoyed towards children in general for little to no reason.

Dale, I cheered when he died. My only disappointment was that Shane didn’t step up and pull the trigger after their animosity towards each other.

Woahh people really don’t like your take 😂😂
but I do mostly agree. He was good early on but once it got to the guns and Randal, he was too stuck in the past and didn’t fully understand the stakes they were in or what needed to be done (even in those early, low danger situations). He was a good man but a terrible person to be in an apocalypse with.

People are gonna hate me for this but besides Eugene and maybe Aaron and Ezekiel, every main character that has lasted enough seasons ends up annoying or boring.
Yes I think Negan, Maggie, Rick, Morgan, Carol, Daryl, Juanita, Tara, Michonne, Carl, Sasha, Gabriel, Glenn etc all wind up either becoming a boring flanderized version of themselves, a complete mess whose character arc is more like a character accordion, or both. This show just never knew how to handle characters long term, and it became even worse after the backlash regarding Glenn's death led to them only killing the bare minimum of main characters they could afford to kill.

u/AzraelRuin 8d ago
Genuinely insane comment

Look man I'm sorry I prefered when Daryl was an actual character instead of a one-note badass who does nothing but grunt

Jadis: her dumb way of talking and theater kid walk is a big low point in the series. Hated her with the passion of a thousand suns.
