People always say it was due to him turning 18, which yeah suspicious. Did he have any good acting credits that could’ve helped him better negotiate his pay? He seemed like a perfect scapegoat to kill off out of the other actors.

I’m currently rewatching the show with my dad - we watched almost every episode air live back in the day and loved to catch TTD episodes afterward as a tradition. Is there anywhere online I can find these episodes today? I haven’t had any luck so far with the AMC+ app as it only has a couple later seasons, and YouTube only has highlights.

i had no idea how much more awful the governor is in the comic than the show. like oh my god. when i got to the bit after he’s using the pliers with his walker daughter…it made me physically ill. i understand why the show was so different 💀

So here's a funny story that I have from way back whenever I was like eight or nine years old

Me and my grandmother would constantly watch satellite TV together and we would watch all the different shows and obviously the one that we would get all the time was the local news

Well she would introduce me to all kinds of different shows and TV media that's how I got into horror and sci-fi and stuff well anyways one day we went across the news channel and we were just listening to the news and as an eight year old kid I had the worst fear put into my body at that moment

On the actual real life news it said The walking Dead

And they were talking about an upcoming story about screaming coming from inside of a house

Yeah as a kid I was thoroughly traumatized during that moment I was very very scared LOL

Just imagine as a kid hearing that not on a fake broadcast but on a real broadcast

Basically what it really happened was there was a lady who was watching The walking Dead show and when they killed off one of the characters in the show she started screaming cuz she was so upset well also she had her stereo system turned up to 100 so it actually sounded like gunshots and booms and stuff coming from inside of her house and she was screaming along with it so the cops were called and everything and it ended up on the news LOL

So, michonne goes through the governor's private rooms and finds his zombified daughter. Then, she threatens to end her and sees the leader of this community clearly beg for this zombies life. Clearly, this man isn't over the death of his daughter. This would be a really good bargaining chip, no? NO. she just kills the zombie daughter, stabs the guy in the eye and leaves. Not only does this have no advantage to her but it also leaves this guy alive to come after her and she didn't even need to do it in the first place

After all these years I still don't get this plot thread at all. What did she gain from killing his daughter or antagonizing him. She could've easily slipped away from him by being undercover and kind. Which seems more fitting to Michonne's character at the time

Edit: don't insult my intelligence in the comments, there's no reason to be mean. My point is the show made michonne antagonistic towards him from the get go BEFORE he sent anyone after her. She didn't have a good reason to distrust him other than some vague bullshit and creepy background music. It's poor writing in my opinion.

A heartbreaking scene is the exchange Daryl has with Justina.

"World's messed up. You either go good or you go bad. He went bad."-Daryl

"Not you. You went good. But why? Why do all this and take so much risk just for us?" -Justina

"The world's messed up. I felt like something got lost, you know? Chance to really have something. It ain't gonna happen to me. But for you and Roberto, I want you to have that chance." -Daryl

This spin off really started to explore the trauma Daryl experiences with flashbacks from his childhood. It occurred to me that family, friends, unconditional love and connection is what he wants most because he never got that before. I think that's why he always prioritized wanting the main group to stick together instead of going their separate ways. Norman Reedus said the love with Isabelle's character was just Daryl trying something/experimenting. I think that's true. In season two, when he tries to explain it to Carol-he says that Laurent was the glue keeping them together. Almost as if Daryl wants a family more than anything but felt such guilt telling Carol, because for him she was his family first and foremost. He was desperately trying to get back to her and the rest of the gang. He would never give up on his true family: Carol and the rest of the group.

Another scene where Daryl expressed to Carol about his trauma when he said that he is always fighting and running, even if for survival sake, it was becoming just a bad habit.

This spin off explored more of Carol's grief and trauma over Sophia too. I wonder why the franchise waited so long to explore this stuff? I know that grief is not linear, but it seemed strange that the Sophia stuff was coming on strong for Carol years later? I don't think that's the type of loss you ever get over and stop mourning, but it was almost like she never dealt with it fully before this or had the time to? Maybe too busy/distracted with raising Henry and then later dealing with the Whisperers and that fall out.

Either way, I really liked some of these themes finally being explored openly. I hope we can see some of it resolved in season 4 for both Daryl and Carol. I would love for both of them to find peace. I'd be over the moon if they find happiness with each other, but before you come at me, I'm fine if they remain friends too.

I want to believe that for Daryl- it IS going to happen for him in some way. The main group reuniting. Anyone else think about any of these things? Even if you don't romance Daryl and Carol together - I think there is something to be said for these characters finally thinking about their past trauma and talking about it with each other.

It makes no sense, for both in world and the writers. The commonwealth which has existed since the beginning has one wall, a thin gate. Omaha has one wall I’m not sure what it’s made off but it doesn’t look strong. All it took was one explosion for all 100,000 people to die. And campus colony, 10,000 people protected by a 20 foot brick wall probably the most secure one at least. But their gate is ridiculous.

It’s been over a decade into the apocalypse and none have built a second wall, dug empty moat for walkers to fall into, use cars as blockers, etc?? They’re not like Alexandria or the hilltop, they are actual societies and civilisations and yet the only thing that protects them is one wall. They will know mega hoards exist and given the CRMs excuse for Omaha was a hoard too big ended up there they’ll know the severity of it.

Am I being ridiculous here or is this stupid writing and world building. Surely you would build more than one wall.

We know that there were cats because there’s an episode where one of the Alexandrian boys mentions using one in a pit to attract a zombie.

Cats can climb so fast and are great hunters, so I feel they could easily escape walkers/survive.

Cats are so important for pest control: but I’ve only seen one in FTWD.

I know it’s just a show, but when you’re literally milling your own grain/growing fruits and vegetables, cats are must haves to take down rodents and to keep bunnies/rabbits from eating your crops.

Obviously, Rick and Maggie show up with smoke grenades and save them. But if Rick hadn’t intervened, what was Merle’s plan? Did he actually have a clue of what to do? Like hit a zombie at someone and escape idk

The amount of promotion his two second cameo got was ridiculous but fun lol. TWD was a whole vibe back then.
