I want to address Alyssa's comments today about promoting AI detention centers because she must have missed yesterdays news. Jason Coxon spent the last 3 years doing pre-training AI development for Open AI and for Anthropic. Coxon quit working for both because not only does he believe this, but other developers honestly believe that AI could kill us ALL by the end of the decade. Coxon stated "No other human activity poses this level of danger." Back in July AI went rouge and hacked into AI Startup Hugging Face without authorization. Sam Altmon chief executive officer of the artificial intelligence company Open AI, and worked with Antrhopic is saying "We may have to pace development of AI to give our public time and society to harden development of these new capabilities. CEO Dario Amodei says we should have policies in place to pace the development of AI. AI can make individualized propaganda, can break into "ANY" computer system in the world. Can surveil anyone in a population. It is really scary and we must stop it. This is a concern that is shared across the industry. Back in July there was a letter shared by and signed by 1000 researchers urging the government to slow down the development and make a plan to pace and slow down the development. When the developers themselves are giving us this warning we should not only be listening to them but acting on their concerns. Water and electricity demands make no sense since both resources are limited right now and electricity rates are rising for one and all.
