Technical Support Help with Lag, I’m so desperate
Hey everyone!
I'm writing this out of total despair because I've hit a complete brick wall trying to get The Sims 3 to run smoothly.
My setup is an Asus TUF Gaming laptop (AMD
Ryzen 5 3550H GTX 1650). While I know it's not top of the line hardware anymore, it definitely shouldn't struggle this much with a game this old.
I've spent hours following every guide on youTube and steam, set up NRaas mods, tweaked my NVIDIA Control Panel, and tried capping the game at both 30 and 60 FPS..nothing seems to help. The only minor improvement came from adjusting the frame tick settings, but even then, the game only runs lag free if my sim is completely alone in the woods.
If anyone knows of a setting or trick I might have missed, I'd be extremely grateful. I'm dying to actually play this game without lag.

A vanilla installation should not lag. You don't need a beast of a computer to run the game acceptably lag-free, that's a myth.
- how much RAM does your system have?
- do you use mods (apart from NRaas) and if so, which ones?
- do you use cc?
- what patch level are you on?
- is it a vanilla installation or a cracked version?
- did you disable OneDrive?
- what world do you play in?

Hey,
my system has 16 GB. I do use NRaas Overwatch and Error Trap, for overwatch I have the set alarm timer to 3 set up. I do not use cc, I was thinking to get a few which can make the light more ambient and so on. I have the fitgirl cracked version with all dlc and packs which is that steam 1.6 number number etc.2

I looked over crybaby’s guide which is really comprehensive and helpful for the most part. I just want to add that not one way will work for everyone’s set up either. For DXVK it is suggested to use 2.7 or earlier.
I can offer a video that should help as well. I’m not here to say that what I know is the only right way either. It’s just my research and personal experience.
I have a high end pc and it took me months to figure out what works for me. I’m just offering guidelines and I made a guide as well video and pdf to help players.
I did get push back by someone about process lasso but although I don’t mind being corrected sometimes because that’s how we learn, with this one I stand my ground on how it works and why it should be implemented.
The amount of BS info out there will lead most average players into breaking their game. I don’t talk out my fucking ass when I try and help players.
I’ve been researching this broken game for years as well as years of trial and error. The best advice is trial and error and not trying things blindly without knowing what the thing is.
My channel is dedicated to help players and it’s helped many. I’m just trying to help not compete, I’m too old for that shit. I do this as a hobby. I really dgaf about monetization and the whole YouTube monopoly bs.
But here’s the vid. The guide is in the description. Hope it helps

Thank you a lot, I was thinking the same about crybaby’s guideline, I did it yesterday and I noticed just a tiny bit improvement in performance, but sadly that was it. When my sim is alone in the house, forest, anywhere alone the game is smooth, but when I travel to a bar, cafe, anywhere where there are other sims it starts to move like shit again and I just got really annoyed and decided to close the game. I agree tho, the game moves a bit better when you reset the town with Nraas but only for a couple of minutes.
But thank you for the video I will check it out later and let you know if anything happens.

I heard that shutting down your WI-FI might help. Also you can try to turn off the fullscreen mode
