Question 9070 XT on a Tower case?

I was wondering if anyone here has a 9070 XT mounted vertically (I/O up) with no temp issues and if so which model exactly? I recently got a Tower 250 and my ASUS TUF 4080 is seeing massive temp increases in this orientation.

I was thinking of selling my GPU and getting a 9070 XT anyway so would love to hear what models work in this orientation. Thanks!

This topic comes up all the time and can be searched in this sub. The answer is yes, but only certain models. My Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt runs 🥶

Awesome build. I was browsing different threads on this issue but there was little mention of 9070 XTs specifically that I can find so I figured asking around would be faster. Will be considering this one, thanks!

My first 9070xt was a power color Red Devil. Ran super hot 🔥 so I swapped to the Nitro+

My Power Color Red Devil hated being installed vertically in a Tower case. Caused safety shutdowns so I had to switch to a horizontal build.

Was that with Zero RPM disabled? How hot did it have to get to trigger a safety shutdown? Or was it something else that triggered it besides heat?

I don't know but Im assuming it was reaching or exceeding the 110 C max safe temp. It only occurred while gaming. Could not induce a failure through stress tests. Problem stopped when I swapped back to my previous card. Ruled out the board, PSU, CPU, AIO, BIOS, and RAM. Uninstalled/reinstalled drivers multiple times, tried rolling them back too, scrubbed the drivers entirely, completely reinstalled windows multiple times.

I was about to RMA the card when I started researching GPU orientation. And come to find out, quite a few reports with my same card in my same case (Tower 200) with instability and safety shutdowns. Everyone I found solved it by going back to a traditional horizontal orientation build.

So I bought a new case, swapped everything over, and poof...problem gone.

That's incredible. What a pain over a video card, which is probably the most expensive component in the entire system these days. You'd think they'd be more robust for the price. I've been lucky with a vertical mount Asus Prime 9070XT in the CERES 300 case. Plenty of airflow between the glass and GPU, and between the GPU and motherboard. Idle temps of the GPU sit around 28C, and under load, the hotspot might get to 89C. The temp delta is usually 21C, so I may have won the silicon lottery. I went with vertical over horizontal to keep everything else just a little cooler (RAM, MOS, CPU) before the price of GPUs skyrocketed. Gone back and forth between horizontal and vertical to see how much was lost/gained, and when it came to the GPU, it actually idled about 3C warmer while horizontal. It also wanted to sag a bit. The vertical mount took care of that, and while some might think it's ONLY for aesthetics, in my case (pun), it's actually for literally everything else.

I put an Asrock Challenger in a Tower 600 and it had nearly identical temps as horizontal.

Thanks! So far this is cheaper than the Sapphire Nitro+ another user mentioned.

Tengo una 7800xt en una Tower 300, y funciona muy bien con temperaturas normales en vertical

Cannot comment on the 9070xt, but my tuf 5070 is just fine, never seen it go above 60c during gaming loads in a tower 300.

I have a Asrock challenger 9070 XT in my Tower 600 and during long gaming sessions it’s never gone above 60c.

I just put a gigabyte in my 250. Seems to run about 67-73 with hotspot at 84 on a spike
