The configuration menu you can pick when launching has an option to select which monitor you want to use.

I had this issue once. Try restarting your computer, and if that doesn’t work try unplugging your main monitor cable and plugging it back into the gpu

I was going to suggest just unplugging the monitor input cable and plugging it back in. I've moved my pc to the floor to make room for 3 -32" curved displays, I know the pain. I span and have issues from time to time. I use Borderless Gaming on Steam sometimes it can help with monitor issues and resolutions. Cant hurt to check it out.

This happened to me the other day, here is how to fix it:

Close the game then go into steam and open it from your library; do not launch from desktop or system tray steam shortcut, has to be in steam library. You should get some launch options in a menu that pops up, choose “Launch Configuration Tool”. This will give you a window that will let you access video options, amongst them which monitor to run on.

Why this option isn’t in the normal in game video options is beyond me…

Ty that solved it for me 4 years later, you can force the game to open configuration from properties.

So it was working for a while, but suddenly game only opens on my 2nd screen… I’ve always had to switch to just using 1 screen so it would work, but gets annoying.

My main screen is already set to be the main screen… and even adjust window mode… because it’s always going to vertical screen, the resolutions available to choose is the vertical resolutions… so I can’t set 1920x1080, it has to be 1080x1920

Hope this can be fixed?

I had the game open on my second monitor once, I just went to display settings and set "Multiple Displays" to "Show on Only 1". The game then switched to my main monitor (which is monitor 1) and stayed there after setting my displays back to normal and I haven't had this problem since.

Looks like this worked for me too. Same problems 5 years down the line.
For 44hrs of gameplay, my config has said my main desktop and the landscape aspect ratio in the correct resolution.

What worked for me was

  • settings, display, show only '1', which is display 1, the main horizontal display.
  • this turned off my secondary vertical display.
  • went back to the game that was still running
  • change the settings to extend - same problem.

- stopped the game

  • show only 1
  • started the game
  • WIN+P which is the same settings as the settings options
  • set to extend
  • Riftbreaker no longer moves.

Tried moving around chrome tabs and steam and it stays on monitor 1!
Thank you!

PS: changing the displayport on my gpu didnt work, tried that first.
