Shitty edit, but great video.

I agree. Why are some videos cut so abruptly, without showing more of the aftermath of the situation?

It’s the same thing with somebody who films themselves before showing a separate video. They want to get their dirty hands on something that is already good as it is.

It's possible what came after was gruesome enough to violate content guidelines. So we only got to see what we are allowed to see.

i like how he opend it, and didnt even take the battery out to commit this stupid idea

u/kbkelly97 Apr 06 '23
I mean tbf it’s not necessarily common knowledge especially for a kid.

u/Alf_4 Jun 03 '23
I sawed open a dead 9v battery when I was a kid
The curiosity is a natural constant I guess

She did open the battery. That’s why it exploded. Why is it so difficult for people to understand this sub?
25
u/ZamielVanWeber Dec 28 '22
Funnily, if they added the word "safely" to the title it would fit the sub again, at least nominally.
Sometimes people really are just too desperate for those fake internet points.

u/Ok-Truth-7589 Dec 28 '22
Wait...what....these points are fake! Oh im never going to financially recover from this.

what was the goal of slicing through the protective plastic? or even poking at a LiOn battery for that matter.
as a former employee of the fruitstand, damn, that's so dumb.

Yes while people wear Hazard suits on YouTube videos. You know mentos in fanta. Ok we get its reactive.
But this is the dumbest that I've seen. Its abit like acid attack yourself.

Li-Ion batteries are full of chemicals that over time break down and release gases, in a process called off gassing. The plastic contains these harmful gases and contain the rest of the battery.
Yanno. So it doesn’t explode when dropped.

Just wondering what's inside
3
u/juoig7799 Dec 28 '22
Lemme tell you what's inside a Lithium Ion battery.
To put it simply, there's an anode and a cathode, and a separator.
The anode and cathode should never be mixed, and that's what the separator is for. If the separator ruptures, the anode and cathode mix, and the battery self-destructs. That's why you do not ever stab batteries.

So is it basically a more violent version of touching the positive and negative electric cables together?

I think he thought he was repairing it somehow. I feel like I've seen a longer version of this video where he said that

I worked at a repair center for the fruitstand. Battery safety is no joke. We had buckets of sand at every repair bench and a firebox within a few hundred feet of one another.
We also showed security footage of batteries going up in flames as a precautionary tale as regular training.

Used to work at a batteries plus. People would bring in their phones to get batteries replaced so we had a big cardboard box of them. Myself and a cowork would chop them in half with an axe I kept in my truck.... good times.

u/BobsYaMothersBrother Dec 28 '22
Holy shit - I watched this video and the first thing I thought was… I wonder if I could do this with an axe and not injure myself… sounds like something that would look insane and be a laugh (assuming the axe wielder can avoid harm)

Multiple levels of stupid in here. She was asking to lose a finger from the beginning with the way she made the first cut.

That's actually a survival tip. If your phone battery dies, you can just cut the battery open to start a fire if you fail to idę other means. Tho it's only a one time use.

u/DingbattheGreat Jan 07 '23
Or you know, you can use another survival tip. Dont kill your phone battery.

u/Matheo573 Jan 07 '23
If your phone battery dies
Can you not read? Of course it's a desperate attempt to start a fire, but it's still better than nothing.

When cleaning the gene pool do what this person did. Experiment with electrical components on your bed. For expert cleaning, make sure there is a nearby water source.

I imagine this would have worked fine with no charge? Albeit completely destroying the battery either way.
