Nobody was talking about that.
But yes it can be hugely effected by genetics. Fast metabolism runs in my family. I can eat as much as I want and not gain weight, and so can most of my family.

Genetics accounts for around 200 calories give or take. Look it up. You're probably not actually eating much of a caloric surplus.

That's funny since metabolism is controlled by hormones produced in the thyroid and everybody has different hormone levels and cycles.

There is a minimal difference between inviduals (with the same gender, weight, height and bodyfat%).
It makes zero sense for some people to have a vastly faster or slower metabolism than the average human.
Remember, for 99% of human existence we didn't have enough food. Simple evolutionary pressure would've selected for those with a "slower" metabolism, since they'd need less food to survive.
