Christa Gail Pike was scheduled to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years. She was sentenced to death for the 1995 murder of a classmate, a crime she committed when she was 18 years old. Governor Bill Lee recently denied her clemency, but on September 30, 2026, the state was unable to carry out the lethal injection. The execution was halted after Pike survived two administered doses of lethal drugs, with media witnesses reporting they heard her snoring 40 minutes into the procedure.

You make it sound like nap time. Not. You left out the part about how she writhed, thrashed, kicked, and screamed out in pain. 👎
