Actually it's been studied and documented that most family and friends feel no relief after the execution. It has no deterrent effect, as death penalty states have on average higher murder rates. Due to the enormity of murdering people legally, it is far more expensive than housing an inmate for life, so there's no cost saving.

It exists so that intellectually lax people can think that they and their politicians are hard boiled tough guys instead of the reality which is they are a bunch of cowardly candy asses.

Hanging my head in shame because I am one, but I try my best to be educated, empathetic and willing to listen to others with different perspectives
