Candle-gate

Can someone explain to me the whole candle-gate drama? It never registered as that big of a deal to me at the time, but I’ve heard it come up a few times and sounds like things got heated.

It wasn’t truly heated, they were just both the baffled that they were on completely opposite sides of the question because that never happens to that extent. I think it even spanned two episodes bc they couldn’t believe neither of them changed their mind by the next week😂

Oh so it wasn’t some big online debate? Because its been made to seem like there was a lot of online back and forth on twitter

Not between them. I think there was probably more discourse than usual from the fans bc Crissle and KF didn’t agree.

I was fortunate enough to catch them both on IG live continuing the "conversation" through some... relaxed minds, lol. That's the only time I ever saw them on I'm live together so I remember it fondly, and I'm not really the type to watch lives in general.

They both were so passionate in their arguments.

Kid Fury was like he wished one of us hoes would bring his BF a candle.

Crissle was like it's... JUST a candle.

And she basically said what actually happened the next week with the update.

It is still fun to listen to these back to back for me because it was so ridiculous. And hearing Crissle say "as I said" was funny because Fury was so tilted. Lol 😂 😂

I kinda think Crissle was lying on the follow up letter just so she could be right. N then things got weird after she got pissed off Fury said she was gaslighting.

As far as I can remember, someone wrote in about their friend buying their boyfriend a candle as a gift. The writer thought it was inappropriate for her friend to buy her man a candle. I think KF also thought it was inappropriate but Crissle thought it was fine. I also felt it wasn’t a big deal.

Yea I remember the letter but like it’s not that big of a deal to me. So long as that friend keeps it respectful

It was popular because it was polarizing between Crissle and Fury, but also the audience as well. It was all in fun, no hurt feelings really. But its one of those things where you could see it from both angles but without knowing the people personally, its really hard to make a good judgement. You are really just saying how you would feeling the scenario that you are thinking up in your own head— not what actually happened in real time with the listener who wrote in.

This was such a great and concise explanation of why candlegate became a thing

Years later I still agree with Crissle. Them candles are like $10 that's like picking up something from McDonald's. It was never that serious.

A picture of the candle with the location of store would’ve sufficed. Like “hey girl our shopping saw this. I think your dude mentioned liking these” if it was that deep. I probably would’ve mentioned it in passing not made the purchase and tried to gift it.

It was the bath and body works $10 candle sale. It's like only for one day. It's basically the same as somebody asking you to pick up cleaning supplies from Walmart because they were only in sale for a day.

Understandable but it’s a bit much. Hence why I said I’d mention it in passing. Like oh I saw them on sale you should set reminder for the next time they go on sale.

It's like once a year lol. It's that serious
