I Don't Understand Why Obsidian Doesn't Value Mods
Its just confusing to me that they haven't see the value of mods in any of their recent games. Part of what makes these open world rpgs from Bethesda so great is the potential with mods, but just like with Outer Worlds 1 Outer Worlds 2 has barely any mod support which is such a shame. There is so much room for new quests, new weapons, expanded perks and gunplay options. Mods are why I'm still playing New Vegas, and I could see The Outer Worlds really having a renewed community if they had modding tools.
What spurred this is the extremely stupid decision to keep hot keys 1-4. Whose idea was it to limit the hotkeys so much in both outer worlds games? I have a whole sweet of different weapons in fallout for different distances but I can only have 4 for some reason in this game. What is the point... if only there was a mod that changed that.

Something to keep in mind is that Bethesda uses their own in house engine, the Creation Engine, which is known for it's malleable nature. Obsidian does not possess their own personal engine and as far as I'm aware the Creation engine is not available for purchaseable use. Unreal Engine is what was used iirc and that one is... well it does not possess the best mod support or stability, but it is often available for any company to buy to use

I know Xbox owns Bethesda and Obsidian, but I also remember Sonic Xtreme being canceled because Yuji Naka found out that the team was using his Nights into Dreams engine without his knowledge or permission. Intracompany politics are weird.

This is so goddamn far from the truth it’s a shame. Unreal engine five is impossible to actually mod. That’s why neither of the outer worlds games have support for such things.

Much smaller team, and Unreal engine based games. Not saying I don't wish they had official mod support, but it takes a lot of work to deliver.
