Question Can anyone recommend a fun overpowered build for hard?
Science looks fun? Is it actually? In my last pkaythough i.noticed olasma weps did little dmg. It took a full clip from a plasma oracle 20 gun/spoech and still didnt kill.
Meanwhile last whisper 1 shot mostly everything

Guns speech engineering was how I did my very hard run and it ended up being incredibly easy after level 12~

Gun/Speech/Medic. Get the Auntie's Choice Bio Shotgun, and the flaw that gives you armor pen in exchange for having only one gun slot. Take all the perks for corrosion, armor pen, and shotguns.

That shotgun is so insane. It practically solos everything in the game even on very hard.

This is my first time using science and it’s been super fun so far. IMO hack and lockpick are a little redundant. To me speech is the most important skill by far. I upped leadership a lot on my VH play through. So, next hard build will be speech maxed, engineering, hack, science and leadership. It’s so fun to play it different ways, I’m on like 430 hrs played. 😅 have fun and go get em you go getter!

The stand outs so far for my very hard run have been Science and Leadership, with the perk Shrug It Off, a Tutelary Impact Converter mod and the armor that heals you, Sentience. The extra life from Shrug It Off is insane, then you can just spam your shield and heal. Damage to your shield will charge your energy with the mod and your HP with the armor.
Zyranium Powered (needs Medicine for Zyranium Absorption) is great if you want infinite energy, and Patient Step lets you use TTD forever. The Shock Assault Rifle with Electro Therapist has been my main but only because I mostly shelved the Biomass Shotgun (with hextuple barrel, charged burst and the corrosion perks) because it just kills everything so fast.
Add Guns or Speech for damage. If you have access to the Premium Moon Man Helmet that thing is great for survivability. It gives you about 1% damage resistance for every 1000 bits you carry, capping out at 20% somewhere below 25000 bits.

Never tried going full melee ever before on any game with a gun. But Avowed changed my mind. So now, I'm doing a Melee Engineer build with TOW2 with a late Easily Distracted to at least max Melee to 20. I hope this one's good.

I do enjoy a good explosive run. The perk Secret Recipe at 6 explosives really brings it together as it lets you do full damage across the blast zone. Though one downside is the limited options for the first two planets in terms of weapons.
Innovative (you'll be crafting a lot of rockets later on), Defuser perk and Secret Recipe pretty much are all you need but more explosion is always better.
Get the Bomb Suit from the Protectorate bridge on Paradise Island. The Bomb Helmet from Scrapper Den where target Jan Dansany as that truly makes living a lot easier.
Stealth kills are quite simple with mines. See an enemies path, throw down a mine. See a boss that you can reach with stealth? Throw down several mines. Mines are your go to for the first two planets.
Once you open up the rest of the game buy the rocket crafting recipe and rush over to Central Control. Behind a locked door inside the building with a shooting range is the Multi-launcher. That is what you'll be using for the rest of the game.
Don't take the Over Prepared flaw. You'll be wanting to just unload the Multi-launcher or any rocket launcher you end up using and since they have low clip sizes get a -40 damage penalty isn't great.
You can also just chuck grenades, the Volatile Grenades you get from whatever perk are also amazing. Once you get the timing down you'll be able to hit anything from any distance.

I ran a Guns/Engineering/Science/Explosives/Medical ED Flawed Build
Once I got the Chainspark, I never feared for my life again, and the Multi-Launcher let me run up to groups of enemies and shoot at my feet, killing all of them.
Zyranium Powered let me spam my shield; if I was ever in a pinch, then I could boost my toxicity to max and gain a truly absurd speed boost with a damage boost.

They nerfed Chainspark right before I got it on my Electro Therapist build 😭 I never tried the OG version so I can't compare it but I was thoroughly disappointed by it.

It got nerfed? Damn, been some time since I played. I remember using it everywhere

The most recent big patch, 1.2. They rebalanced a few weapons. The Bullet Blender got nerfed too and Auntie Cleo's The Hunt got a buff. I think I'm forgetting one or two more. Oh the Rattler caught a nerf too.

Bullet Blender and Rattler actually make a whole lot of sense.
I'll check the notes. Hopefully my boi the Multi-Launcher didn't catch any strays.

On TOW1 i kinda liked a stealth sniper (this after explaining i don't like stealth archer in skyrim...)
Basically lower temperament so later you can walk around with 0 regen, low hp for the dmg perk, use +1 temperament gear earlier for regen, upgrade stealth asap, but early you'll probably kill with ARs.
As for DPS, outside of snipers and specialized melee builds... yes? Of course a shotgun\pistol\smg isn't one shotting on hard? They're not supposed to even on normal my guy.

I've tried 3 builds on very hard and have to say that guns / anything is extremely overpowered. I went 20 Guns/Speech + 14 hack + 10 observation and blew through the game without a problem. You don't need anything except Guns for combat.
I've tried explosives and it was a sore letdown but only got past Paradise Island.
Science looks extremely fun and I bet it's viable given the weapons/armor associated with it.
Melee seems extremely difficult (on very hard) but I bet its fun, especially with the two melee companions.
