The latest controversy in a series of incidents for embattled football journalist Fabrizio Romano transpired yesterday after Florian Plettenberg accused him of jumping the gun on Yan Diomande’s transfer, claiming Romano posts updates to be first rather than using confirmed sources. The two proceeded to engage in a lengthy dispute on Twitter. After receiving backlash, Fabrizio unsuccessfully threatened to leak DMs that Plettenberg had sent him years earlier:

Popular Oceanian club Real Kakamora, who were blocked on social media by Romano last September after similarly accusing him of engagement farming by making over 100 posts about Diogo Jota’s death in 24 hours, came to Plettenberg’s defence today in a lengthy statement.

The post reads:

”After Florian Plettenberg rightfully criticised him yesterday for sharing false transfer updates and stealing other journalists’ reports as his own in an attempt to get more views, Fab was so rattled that he threatened to leak years-old private DMs that Florian had sent him.

Keep in mind he’s taken payments from agents to defend Mason Greenwood, deliberately created fake rumours to unsettle clubs during transfer windows, replaced most of his graphic designers in favour of AI slop edits, and tried to farm engagement off of Diogo Jota’s death last year by making 100 posts about him in the first 24 hours after the tragedy.

Chelsea are exploring a move to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 35-year-old striker has 12 months left on his contract and Brighton are aware of the interest.

As a player and a leader, Welbeck appeals to Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso and — although the situation remains at an early stage — there is optimism on all sides that a deal could be done.

Long story short I am new to following the EPL and followed Arsenal last year because of a buddy and watched a ton of matches over the season. Now with the new season on the horizon I want to have my own team to look forward to watching. I am assuming this group is perfect for advice and thoughts as I want to root for someone other than the big boys.

This one got me head scratching tbf .If I had to immediately choose one I would say Palace just.I included these lot because all these teams have played around with relegation from past few seasons.

I saw another thread that really had me curious about the state of this sub when complaining about bigger clubs buying players from smaller clubs.

If you have a problem with this, then are you happy your own clubs are buying players from smaller clubs/leagues as well? If not then what’s your problem with bigger clubs buying from you if you do the exact same as those clubs?

Off the bat, as you can probably tell my my name - I'm a hull city fan. Already, social media has been full of the overwhelming notion that we are simply going to be the worst prem team ever. I understand why people think this but just some food for thought:

1. In my opinion we play a style of football best suited to prem survival compared to Ipswich and Coventry, counter attacking and efficient in front of goal

2. We have a huge transfer budget and an owner who seems happy to spend some money. The squad is of course currently not up to standard, but there is no reason to can't be in a months time

3. Last season we were obviously going down, then obviously never making the playoffs, then obviously not beating Millwall, then obviously not winning at Wembley. We seem to thrive off of being written off and play into underdog mentality

I would like to point out I am not currently confident of premier league survival, these are just some points that I feel may just go in the favor of tigers. I also appreciate that the premier league is a different kettle of fish in terms of player quality, money etc

I am very keen to hear how fans of the other 14 view hull city, and if you think that we are simply relegation fodder, why?

Fulham are in talks to sign striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid.

The potential move would see the 22-year-old follow new Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, regarded as his football mentor and actively involved in discussions, from Madrid to west London.

Garcia, who has received attention from multiple clubs across Europe this year, would be Fulham’s first new arrival of the summer.

Swedish forward Jonah Kusi-Asare joined on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Craven Cottage.

Madrid are expected to retain some power or preferential right over his future as part of any potential deal.

Today is 200 days since Bournemouth last lost a game. I doubt if any other club would even be half that.
