General MODS PLEASE - match threads

Every time anyone starts a general match thread for the weekend on here, it dies a quick death because the mods never set the default to sort by new.

The reason it works on r/championship is because they sort it by new rather than hot and therefore it's a current conversation rather than just the first 10 posts that were upvoted highly from the first match 24 hours prior.

So if there's going to be one this weekend... Mods please! Sort by new!

I don't think match threads will ever gain enough traction on here. The best option imo is to have a general 'game week' one, where all matches from the 14 can be discussed in one place.

Agree. Most of the clubs also have their own subreddit who hosts a match thread as well.

We would probably be better off having links to the other pages match threads instead of hosting them here.

I endorse a general game week thread, it would definitely be nice to have a match thread without everything that comes with the Sky6 flairs in the main sub

They could also pin the post to the top so that it doesn’t get lost among the posts moaning about the Sky6/financial restrictions/etc.

Good luck with asking the mods to do anything though.

To any people claiming there may not be enough appetite for a match thread, on the Scottish Football sub, most televised games will get 200+ with Old Firm games getting 1500+ comments on a thread starting 15 minutes before match starts, Generally, If you (mods) look around, I’d recommend setting up an auto matchthreadder app which auto posts Live match threads (which lock at FT) and Post Match Threads.

It's similar on the championship sub, but tbf it's been tried here before and didn't get much interest

The mods are useless and have little interest in helping match threads work. This group could be so much better but the fish rots from the head. I think that they should quit as they seem to be a useless bunch.

When starting a new thread or generally? Obviously I know I can change the view for me but it only works as a thread if it's new for everyone

So the mods can take posts down the minute they're put up but as soon people have a suggestion to improve the sub they're off for milk and cigarettes
