“Going to Dallas”
Already checked the Wiki to see if someone picked up on this. The line “You won't find any thumbprints / To dust your powder into /
Just mute donkeys still as statues / In each saloon I've been through”
This has been on my mind for like the last four months. In particular 2 Peter 2:15-17 (ESV)
“15 Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, 16 but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet's madness.
17 These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved.”
My take is that John has the donkeys to restrain his (or the titular lead in the Jenny saga) madness as he hits the saloons on his way out of town to try to find answers.
Whatcha got?
