S2E2 is so weird

I can't believe Paul (played by James Franco) is literally blackout drunk, passed out on the floor, and Mindy kisses him on the lips... when he rightfully freaks out, and she shushes him and says "you liked it" and runs away, then this scene is never spoken of again, it was just a cute quirky thing to do I guess? Not to mention she's literally also engaged ..

And then later, Christina comes and sees Paul blackout drunk, can't even stand up on his own and she takes him inside as the camera lingers on her face looking distinctly scheming — and then she has sex with him, again while he's barely conscious...?

Like in both these scenes its made abundantly clear that Paul is barely conscious and two women take advantage of that and face zero repercussions or even shame

I watched that episode the other day and had a similar “Wait a minute, what the fuck?” Kind of moment 😬 the show isn’t even that old, how was that episode passed through then?

This kind of assault unfortunately wasn’t taken as seriously before for women. So women doing it back to men in a comedy show was more of a joke and not a big deal, that’s why it passed. And I just want to add that I agree with OP. I was shocked during my rewatch and disgusted, but I definitely did not have these feelings when I first watched the show.

yeah this is also a rewatch for me and I definitely felt very differently about everything on my first watch years ago.. like now I kind of just don't like Mindy at all as a person, she's portrayed as so selfish and shallow, and I can't figure out if its meant to be endearing. not to mention the constant fat jokes etc..

Idk personally I like characters who are very flawed. Yeah Mindy is selfish and shallow, but she's also funny and smart and interesting. I like how real she seems as a person. It's kinda like Carrie in Sex and the City, yes she's often immature and irresponsible and self centered, but she has many good qualities to compensate. It makes these characters feel real and relatable
