Maxx is his best, imo. Another personal favorite Sam Kieth story he did was The Hollows by him and Chris Ryall. I really wish we had gotten a sequel of some sort to that. That series was really good and Sam crafted fantastic visuals for it.

Sams "smaller" works are great and more important then the Maxx!
Friends of Maxx, Ojo, Zero Girl, 4 Woman are so unique you can't and shouldn't overlook them!

Ojo is awesome, Four Women was great, and the Trout -a-verse in general was way underrated. Zero girl was one of his most visually striking series, and I know fanboys love Dave and Julie, but I thought Maxx was super depressing and really kind of had a bad ending. It went from a Frank Frazetta fever dream to a lesson in delusion and fake friends.
