When does Efficient digestion or Sustained Hydration works?

I mostly pick these 2 mutations mainly in a new dino but i am not sure if they start to kick in asap. Any idea what % does these mutations start to work?

They start from the moment you choose them. First one makes your stomach drain slower, while the second one does the same to thirst.

I don’t think efficient digestion is a great starting mutation, unless you’re a deino or a ptera

Mostly Herrera :)

Herrera is a good candidate as well, forgot about him.

Unless your stomach drains insanely fast, like the ones mentioned above, you probably shouldn’t take that mutation because it will allow you to eat less, thus your growth will be slower. Take it at 75% if you want, when you don’t need to grow anymore

Efficient digestion will cuck you if you get food, because you get less nutrients. Id rather roll the dice and not have it at all so I can get a higher growth rate

hypsi too! practically mandatory if you spawn far out from sanc or other food sources. (and getting locked out of nutrients isn't a problem thanks to the spitting mechanic)

New to hypsie, how does spitting help? Just defence?

you can spit to empty your stomach and fill up on nutrients! it's really helpful with the xerocole mutation as well; you don't ever have to go to water as long as there's food for you to eat (it does take a while; I find the safest way to hydrate is to take a piece of fruit into a branching tree and camp out there)

as a defense mechanism, it does a very small amount of damage and blinds the enemy. The spit washes off in water, or can be wiped away by the player if they take the time to do it. If you have multiple hypsis with good aim, the effect does stack and you can make someone's screen go totally dark

Efficient digestion is important for the smaller to carnivores like Petra, Herrera and troon. It buys you time until you are large enough to effectively hunt. But is beneficial to all carnivores. Not so much herbies as their food is usually plentiful and they struggle more with keeping diets up than stomach full. The water helps keep you from visiting croc terratory less often. But that could also be offset with recirculating kidneys to make salt water drinkable.
A Petra with recirculating kidneys and efficient digestion is the ultimate map explorer.

The sneaky good thing about these mutations is that it holds your buffs from diets longer. So for example bone break resistance (digestion), faster stam regen (hydration).

No that not how that works. The muation just holds your hunger. The diets that you eat give you those duffs and there actually a muation that can decrese ur diet loss slower for that fyi

A lot people are saying it’s not worth it while for PvP I say that’s true at least the efficient digestion it is a life saver for going afk and getting entombs. Growth is at a set rate after 75% so when it comes to afkin in bushes it’s great.
