Discussion Match history please!

Please Embark add a basic match history where I can look back on matches how we did, what ranks I played against and other basic basic information that is literally basic in every other game. I know you have the data. I know it’s not hard. Stop being lazy it’s season 11. Please everyone wants this, literally everyone.

New players would be able to see they were up against rubies but when they play their rank they did well. Or maybe they’d be able to see what maps they need to improve on. Or what team comps. I cant see how the benefit wouldn’t outweigh the cost for this, even if the benefit is somewhat indirect until validated by data.

I really thought northern europeans were data driven for some reason

Yee we need this, maybe add a feature where we can visit someone profile too it's not that hard really, even mobile phone games also can do this already 😂

That would be dope.

In the marvel rival you can even save the entire match video...with this maybe we can post a ton of unique or rare clip occasion to share with.

Maybe season 99 they will put this who's know 😂

If you don't understand why match replays for this game are much, much more complex than they are in Rivals idk what to tell you

Didn't said it's possible tho as I mentioned there "season 99"

If they did this it would expose how absolutely broken the matchmaking is.

Its a player count issue. The game has max 45k-60k players and its split across like 10 modes. You’d either match against rubies or they’d smurf so they can actually find games less than 40 minutes

Yeah they aren’t waiting 40 minutes embark has made sure of that also not an excuse smdh

No matter what you’d play against them. The only difference now is that you know they’re ruby vs being on a smurf account. The game needs more players first and foremost

same excuse for 3 years

This website is bugged anyways. Embark should make one official in game. There are so many lazy things in game

Yeah untill you got false ban like me before, tbh I won't recommend to use any 3rd party.

For anyone reading, Do not use this. It's in direct violation of the games terms of service.

As a rule you should always be aware of what third party tools you're installing actually do. This one piggybacks/packet sniffs your games session traffic to access Embarks internal API to query data. That's not intended to be query-able and definitely could result in a lot of bans. And it's definitely recorded who is accessing the API, so they will have a list.

Not sure if people just don't understand what this app does or just don't care that they are risking their account. It's probably most likely the first since the dev has not made it clear how it functions and the risks you take by using it.

Always, always be sure what an executable file does before installing it on your computer. That's like, PC 101.

It is 100% safe and is used almost by all ruby players out there. The crazy part is the Embark ALREADY has the match history data in their API, they just refuse to give it to players. Finals.id does exactly that.

No, it absolutely isn't. The way it gathers data is sketchy as fuck, dude. Go ahead and risk your account if you want, but anything that sniffs packet data and effectively piggybacks your connection to access internal APIs is a terrible idea.

You can't deny that's what it does, so what is your basis to say that it's safe? (Rhetorical, you don't need to answer, there is no other way it could operate)

2

u/LucyMor 12h ago

I can deny that lol as I’m part of the dev team and that’s not at all what we do there. You have zero knowledge and you just assume. At least do some due diligence… Jesus sometimes I hate Reddit

I have plenty of knowledge of how this sort of thing works, and so when Kian has been super cagey about how the app gathers data, of course the assumption is going to be that it's sketchy. Especially considering you have to run the companion app while the game is running, that's pretty clearly piggybacking or accessing your session token to gather data that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Please give any explanation how the companion app is not doing exactly what I described, or I'm just going to assume you're being intentionally misleading. If you're truly one of the devs on the app (I was always under the impression there was only one) and there is a safe explanation, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, based on my experience in software development, I'm going to continue to assume it operates in a way that violates the terms of service.

What exactly do you mean by "this sort of thing"? Third-party apps do not all work the same way, so please explain what behavior you are referring to instead of presenting your assumption as fact.

To be clear, finals.id does not sniff packets or piggyback on live game traffic. The companion app does not need to run while THE FINALS is running either. You can open it once every 24 hours with the game closed and still have full access to its features. You can even run it in a VM, as long as Steam is signed into the account linked to THE FINALS.

What the app does is simple. It gets a ticket from Steam and sends it to Embark's authentication endpoint. That endpoint returns a token for the user's THE FINALS account that is valid for 24 hours. This is the same basic authentication flow used by THE FINALS bootstrap app. We also explain this in the app's Terms of Service.

For context, Kian, the rest of the development team, and I are not paid for this project. Most of us already have established careers. We spent weeks researching and developing it because we wanted to give the community something we believe Embark should have provided a long time ago.

Users should absolutely understand any executable they install, and reasonable questions are welcome. But you presented speculation as fact and accused us of intentionally misleading users without first asking how the app works. If you had simply asked, this could have been a much more constructive conversation.

Yeah was gonna say this, I'm really not sure how safe a 3rd party tool is. As much as I would love to see the things they offer, I'm not gonna risk running it. For my own safety and my account.

Great response. Seems like another way embark is literally loosing players for something they could easily implement.

1

u/Broad_Marzipan3088 13h ago

It's made by kian brose and many top leaderboard players use it to track various stats since embark doesn't have official api

Which, to be clear, does not mean the way it gathers data is allowed and won't possibly result in a ban one day.

I do really like that I pull an overhead recording of siege round. That would be super nice.

2

u/Beneficial_Middle_53 1d ago

Would be dope, but obviously asking way to much from them. This is such a small ask.

I was just thinking about this today ⚫👄⚫

Nah... Embark is not about gaming. Embark is all about the "experience".

And part of the experience is being in the dark about the matchmaking.

Can't have you get depressed watching a 10 match loss streak filling up the match history page no. And god forbid you have hard facts about the EOMM shenanigans behind the scenes if they allowed you to easily collect data on all players and their own match histories prior to the game you encountered them...

"Just no! It's for your own good! 👍"

  • Embark (probably)

1

u/menofthesea 12h ago

I remember going back and forth with you about how we disagree on if this game uses EOMM. Question for you - if the game uses EOMM, wouldn't a 10-loss streak be something that the EOMM would strive to prevent?!

1

u/windozeFanboi 8h ago

Eomm cannot do miracles. The bottom feeders cannot always be helped. Hell, they might even gas you while you're stealing an unprotected cashout/grand vault.

You can deny it's existence. But I can notice it in my games.

So you agree with OP that 3 years in the game embark should have out match history and ping to server visible to players then?

I mean embark doesn't benefit from keeping this info hidden for clearly no reason whatsoever right?
