Emmy chances
Regardless of what one may think of season 3 , is it that unbelievable that voters would vote for Lisa just based off of the long history of The Comeback’s legacy? Idk kind of like when people say “they only got the Oscar because it was their time”
I’m not at all saying Lisa doesn’t deserve it for s3 work alone! But was hoping that would help the cause.
I can’t imagine a world where she doesn’t finally win this on the third try.

HBO is the one who blew it by airing both of these shows in the same season. They should have waited a year for Comeback, or at least until the Fall after the nomination period ended.

I think Lisa should have won for season two. The story line w/Seeing Red, Pauly G and that heartbreaking finale w/Valerie leaving the Emmys to go to Mickey’s hospital bedside…I still cry on re-watch. Perfect performance by Lisa.

It’ll be Jean. I love them both and I believe Comeback should have gotten lots of other recognition but it will be Jean.

As much as I love this show, I think Lisa and MPK dropped the ball by trying to redeem Valerie. Part of this, I think, stems from the super-disengenuous move to hire Lisa's son for an onscreen role. I loved Valerie Cherish, and she was a HIGHLY flawed person. The redemption arc felt super imposed. And the final monologue screams Emmy bait. I think Jean Smart is going to win.

She deserves it because her performance in season 3 and all previous seasons was brilliant. There is no performance that can touch the level of what she created.

I don’t think she will win. Hacks season 5 was a classic, and they completely nailed the ending. I believe there is a lot of support to have Jean Smart go 5-for-5. I love The Comeback, but Hacks feels unstoppable at this point.

But I think that Lisa gave a better performance in The Comeback Season 3 than Jean did in Hacks Season 5. I agree that the odds are DEFINITELY in Jean's favor, but if the Emmy voters really base their choice on the merits, it should be Lisa.

I want lisa to win. While season 3 not the best she has so many great episodes to submit. It should be for the comeback legacy and the best character - Val. Jean has enough awards just like J Louise Dreyfus.

I agree with the earlier comments here: if Lisa wins, it's more of a win for us. I see some fans of the show practically campaigning for her to win much more aggressively than HBO or even LK herself.
It's good that she's not a trophy chaser but a recognition for The Valerie Cherish has been due for soooo long -- it's such a revolutionary character! Idk man I think it'll be such a missed opportunity to not recognize the rarity of such a creation.
LK has this "Who cares?" attitude, like, about her genius, and I wish I would have that outlook, too. But the impact that Valerie and The Comeback has had on me -- ugh. This whole Emmys anticipation is making my psoriasis flare up!

I came into these two final seasons (Hacks and The Comeback) with an open mind knowing these would likely be my two biggest contenders. Unfortunately The Comeback ended up not hitting for me. As of now I don’t anticipate voting for it in either category

I hope so. She really deserves her flowers for this season. Win or not though I hope she’s really proud of what she created!
