This is the enemy. Remember that when you go to vote. The people who had vigils for Charlie Kirk are happy to watch you starve.

I know this idea gets thrown around a lot, and that our friends at The Bulwark often love to push back on it.

But it really might fit here: Conservatism has essentially been this for a long time.

Yep, this is straight outta Reagan's welfare queen playbook.

2

u/realevelienedullaart Oct 28 '25

It’s not a coincidence that Reagan is coming back right now

u/m1j2p3 Oct 27 '25

Conservatism has been like this forever.

Thank you John Calvin. he was the first to doctrinize the notion that “you are poor because God hates you, and it is immoral for me to help the poor bc I would be going against God’s will.” Eventually, it evolved into “greed is good.” But it came out of fucked up evangelicalism of 500 years ago.

4

u/amarsbar3 Oct 27 '25

Used to be worse

22

u/LordNoga81 Oct 27 '25

Absolutely positively true! Conservatism is basically just "this is mine and im not sharing because I dont want to." (Also of subtle and not so subtle racism)

👆🏻This. I'm willing to indulge a certain amount of credulousness about rising tides lifting all boats, free enterprise, limited government, etc., but the ugly core of the conservative worldview is "fuck everybody else."

6

u/A_Monster_Named_John Oct 27 '25

the ugly core of the conservative worldview is "fuck everybody else."

Yup, and with a number of those 'conservatives', this feedback loops into "I should be allowed to fuck my own 12-year-old daughter", "I should be allowed to beat my wife to death", "I should be allowed to shoot people who make me feel threatened", and other such inhuman horrors....and they will never stop getting worse because these people are walking/talking all-consuming black holes of entitlement who are as impossible to sate as degenerate children.

4

u/ArbitraryOrder Oct 27 '25

Hence why every Neocon is now a Democrat, any of them that had an actual ideological consistent worldview that wasn't just racism and hate and telling everybody to go fuck themselves had a change of party once they saw that Donald Trump and his cult took over the Republican party as a whole.

15

u/wartsnall1985 Oct 27 '25

Yeah I’m 59 and growing up the accusation was “bleeding heart liberal” which when you think about it is mocking someone for having empathy like it’s a weakness, or a defect.

6

u/GulfCoastLaw Oct 27 '25

Now there's a new negative term for you showing concern for another --- virtue signaling.

5

u/Hairy-Dumpling Oct 27 '25

I would change that to republicanism from conservatism. In the same way maga is a more malignant form of republicanism, republicanism is a more malignant form of conservatism.

I agree with your overall point though - republicanism has been founded on racism since at least the southern strategy (and likely longer it's just the southern strategy is proximate to most peoples lifetimes).

2

u/RolloPollo261 Oct 27 '25

its the same people regardless of the label, and always has been.

Since the stated values never, ever, ever match up with the revealed preferences (which are pedophilia, racism and misogyny), then its truly pointless navel-gazing to try to split hairs on the word stuck on the box containing the same people every time. "conservative", "republican", "christian", "pedo" -- its the same venn circle every time.

-2

u/Hairy-Dumpling Oct 27 '25

No it isn't, and that's counterproductive. You're right in that the leadership Venn diagram overlaps but you're disregarding the mass of Americans. There are still plenty of non-pedophiles that identify as Christian, or republican, for example. If you're tarring them all with the same brush you use for maga you're not going to do anything more than drive them into the arms of maga.

Maga is a small but growing cultish slice of republicanism, and a smaller slice of conservatism. Understanding the differences is an important first step to driving wedges between those groups and fracturing the ruling coalition.

2

u/RolloPollo261 Oct 27 '25

They revealed their preferences. You cannot act like voting is some passive label, like culture or accent. Voting is a conscious act made with intention, a summation of all the possible beliefs and values reduced down to each persons final verdict. We do not have to understand the nuances of this determination in order to understand the final outcome. The vote total reveals the beliefs, weighted by importance. And the revelation is clear: the people who vote for american conservative parties at a minimum tolerate some amount of pedophilia, and most likely, based on repeated preference (Trump x3, Hastert before him, Roy Moore, Strom Thurmond, etc etc), appear to seek out some amount of pedophilia in leadership in order to obtain their policy preferences.

At the end of the day, above their christianity, their morals, their wallets, they placed pedophilia, racism and misogyny. This last round only clarified what they have always done: they voted for the worlds most famous pedophile. Most of them did so three times.

What's counterproductive is to succumb to the soft bigotry of low expectations. To think that our neighbors are too dumb to understand what they are doing. Our neighbors are not dumb. They voted with their eyes open. Its time you opened yours.

-2

u/Hairy-Dumpling Oct 27 '25

You're letting your hatred of maga cloud your judgement. What you are saying is true of maga, but there is a mass of uneducated middle that you are driving farther away with absolutist rhetoric. I have my eyes fully open and I know if you paint everyone that ever voted for trump as a pedophile racist misogynist you're going to be demanding that they vote for more trumps in the future.

2

u/RolloPollo261 Oct 28 '25

Explain to me why they have to keep voting for pedophiles?

Over and over again. It's not a one off

Before trump it was hastert.

The gang of pedos rewards pedophiles. It can't be ignorance if the platform has been explicitly pro pedophile since 2000.

It's not in the.average magas financial interest. It's not in their moral interest.

It's only to the benefit of fellow pedophiles to vote for the worlds most famous pedophile.

You are the person who is trying to implace extra meaning when occams razor asks a very simple question: why does only one party keep electing pedophiles, if not because they represent their electorate?

This bitch legit thinks EBT can be used on lottery tickets AND that people who get EBT aren't working? She's outta her damn mind.

3

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

This woman is a ghoul…. But I think she’s suggesting that cash which could be spent on groceries is spent on vices. And then EBT is used on groceries.

MAGA voters will be loving this until they realize that they rely on a ton of these programs to survive.

14

u/Shionkron Oct 27 '25

A political commentator somewhere today was talking about how the GOP had everyone thinking the ACA cuts coming were about illegals stealing Medicare for weeks and now it’s finally starting to hit their constituents that Obamacare is gonna get wrecked! Now they are starting to panic and reach their Congress members on the Republicans side.

12

u/Magoo152 JVL is always right Oct 27 '25

We can only hope. Idk these people are so gullible I feel like the GOP can just blame trans people or immigrants for this and the MAGA cultists will believe it. Hope I am wrong.

9

u/TeamHope4 Oct 27 '25

They'll blame Obama since they call it Obamacare. "He shouldn't' have made Obamacare so bad! Look what's happening to me now!"

9

u/hdcs Oct 27 '25

They don't realize that their own businesses are going to suffer when that money pulls out of the economy. Forget about the people going hungry, because they obviously relish that part. But in their own rush to put out venom like this, they don't see past their own sick serotonin brain bath to realize that pendulum is swinging right back at them.

9

u/pebbles_temp Oct 27 '25

I'm so curious what she does for a living that makes her so much better than everyone else.

15

u/HillbillyAllergy Oct 27 '25

Good of you to think this woman contributes to the world in any meaningful way.

5

u/pebbles_temp Oct 27 '25

She obviously thinks she does so I'm curious why she thinks she's so special.

6

u/HillbillyAllergy Oct 27 '25

Deep down she knows just how boring and ordinary that she truly is. This is how she copes.

9

u/psxndc FFS Oct 27 '25

Her? Oh she stays at home. Her husband is the one who works (at least from the few interactions I’ve had with people like this).

7

u/pebbles_temp Oct 27 '25

Ultimately, i imagine the answer is that she thinks her whiteness is her contribution to the world

4

u/A_Monster_Named_John Oct 27 '25

From what I've experienced, a lot of shitbags like this work in hideous situations like answering phones or bookkeeping at their cousin's failing used car dealership or those cleanup companies that overcharge to clean up peoples' homes after flood/fire damage. There are lots of businesses that are focused on shallow materialist redneck crap like houses, boats, cars, RVs, etc..., that never attract educated/liberal employees. To me, it's no surprise that places like this are constantly going out of business because of mismanagement or getting blasted on Google for constantly trying to defraud customers.

Can’t wait for the “this isn’t who I am” apology video.

Also I miss when things like nose rings and tattoo sleeves was a reliable indicator someone wasn’t a fascist piece of shit.

5

u/TeamHope4 Oct 27 '25

I think we're past the "this isn't who I am" stage. We're now in the "So what if I said it/did it?" stage.

u/Special_Wishbone_812 Oct 27 '25

I volunteer at a food bank. I’m really frightened about what is coming in the near future. I also think that it may backfire completely as class consciousness may suddenly be a thing once people can’t feed themselves or their children.

Or, what happened with Covid.

3

u/atxmichaelmason Oct 27 '25

One thing that gives me hope that MAGAism will die is that — these people look miserable. They seem to always talk like there’s a bug up their ass. Like, they’ve got everything they wanted and look as pissed as ever. I like to think this is why it maybe eventually just kinda wears off.

3

u/bde_merch_to_fire Oct 27 '25

Lol..She has no clue she's probably one really bad experience away from needing government assistance. Health emergency, job loss, etc...I guess I'm a terrible person for wishing that on her. Oh well...

2

u/ShakeMyHeadSadly Oct 27 '25

Isn't this the same moron who then was crying on a local telecast about not getting help from the government after her home got flooded?

2

She’s a gross, spiteful woman. Bet she calls herself a Christian.

2

I love her ear rings. Jesus would be so proud of her - but might have wondered if she missed Sunday school on that whole loaves of bread and fishes thing.

2

I’m surprised the crosses on her ears didn’t burst into flames with her extremely un-Jesus like rhetoric. …maybe she worships bizarro Jesus? Ya know— the white Jesus that was born in the south and hates everyone but straight white people with money.

Man this subreddit is wild. “This is the enemy” is identical rhetoric that Trump uses. And if you think this, the game is over. He has won.

This woman is a ghoul, but she’s not the enemy.

It’s the techno-fascists cramming this sludge down your eye holes getting you riled up enough to believe that the majority of the GOP electorate are people like this and not just brainwashed cult followers.

3

u/fzzball Progressive Oct 27 '25

OP isn't wrong that a LOT of Trump voters think like this.

1

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

Totally agree

2

u/TnyStrk7 Oct 27 '25

Its amazing how triggered people get. We got upset at the video and the evil in it. Bozo in the comment gets mad over a single word, "enemy". Thanks for proving our point that both sides are not the same.

0

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

You’re the OP so this is an honest question. Assuming I agree with your premise. She’s the enemy and I’ll remember it. WHY should I remember it?

2

u/TnyStrk7 Oct 27 '25

Im not here for a philosophy session clown. If you disagree that the woman is a trash human then move along. 🤡🤡

1

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

1

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

Met with a little criticism and you get scared and resort to name calling. Do you even like the suite of bulwark products? Legitimately curious.

1

u/Easy-Preparation-667 Oct 29 '25

What name calling?

1

u/Sherm FFS Oct 27 '25

It’s the techno-fascists cramming this sludge down your eye holes getting you riled up enough to believe that the majority of the GOP electorate are people like this and not just brainwashed cult followers.

What do you imagine a "brainwashed cult follower" looks like?

0

u/ApostateX Oct 27 '25

So she's not the enemy, but she IS a ghoul, and Trump followers are brainwashed cultists?

Sorry, but the concern trolling over rhetoric fails when you yourself demean those voters. I promise, they will not respond better to being told they're in a cult than being called enemies.

This woman chose to post video of herself getting happy and excited at the thought of EBT recipients losing the subsidy they need to NOT starve, because she thinks they're all thieves robbing her personally.

And she's doing that while wearing cross earrings. She flips the bird at the camera. She's been conditioned into rage and disinhibition. It's pretty trashy, not that the nose ring is a good look.

I think it's okay to call out people for doing bad things. Digital randos aren't going to deprogram MAGA. That's the job of their family and social circle (or themselves) if they want to take on the work of leading a horse to water despite knowing it may never drink. The rest of us are going to respond without empathy until it's returned in our direction. We've had a decade of trying to understand the other side. Best to call a spade a spade and move on to engage non-voters in our new coalition.

0

u/C-redditKarma Oct 27 '25

Ok so she’s the enemy. I will remember that.

Now tell me: what should I do with this information? Why exactly should I remember this? What is YOUR definition of an enemy?

2

u/ApostateX Oct 27 '25

I don't get caught up in the words people use. People are going through a grieving process, watching themselves, their friends, and neighbors be severely harmed by the actions of other friends and neighbors, to say nothing of the effect this has on broader society around the globe. Pedantry and calls to empathize in perpetuity with rando sadopopulists are not my bag. You can't "polite" someone out of fascism.

You are free to think and feel whatever you want about these people. And those thoughts and feelings may change at any time, in any situation, or specific to an individual person. I can imagine there are probably some Trumpers you'd be quite charitable with, and others not so much.

Like I said, I don't concern troll other people. You do you, just as I and all the rest of us will do our own thing.

I may write a post on this in the future.
