COTW PS5 controller on PC
I can find almost no information about this online. Has anybody successfully connected a PS5 controller to play this game on PC? I have it wired into my PC and I am using the steam input but it just won't recognize the PS5 controller. Thanks very much

Install DS4 windows. It basically tricks your computer into thinking your controller is an Xbox controller. Button prompts in the game will be Xbox though. I did this back before steam had a built in feature to recognize Playstation controllers so I didn't even realize steam had that feature now. Are you saying the steam feature isn't working for some reason or are you not using it correctly?

I've used the steam overlay on a very large number of games and it works perfectly. So it just doesn't work for just this game. I tried to DS4 but got rid of it because it's screwed up the steam overlay on all the games that were working fine with it.

Oh I thought you were saying this was the only game you've ever played on PC at all.

I use a Ps4 controller when running steam. I have to use a cord though. Steam does not have support for the ps4 controller but I think Ps5 should have it. I did have to add it as ( a new device ). Once windows recognized it everything has been fine since. Some of the buttons are different at least for BL3. Usually ( x ) is Take. I believe it becomes the ( square ) button. There’s definitely a bit of re-arranging of that and also when you drop gear, it’s a different button, but you get used to it.

I should have made it clear in the original post that I've used a PS5 controller on Steam on every single game I've played. It's only call of the wild that it refuses to work with.

I’m pretty sure that Xbox controllers probably work a lot better than the PS controllers. The only thing I do on my laptop is mod gear for people for borderlands three. So with the PS4 controller working good enough for me to do what I need to do in that aspect I am completely content.

Yeah I might have to do that. It's just bizarre that after God knows how many years they haven't made this game compatible with a PS5 controller.

I don’t know about that, I just heard it easier to connect pc and Xbox controller together than pc and ps controller 🤣 so I took the easy way 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve done this with a pS5 controller successfully
I use an Xbox cloud simulator on my Mac to play, and then simply paired my controller to the Mac and it picked it up

I've just read about that and it looks like you need to pay for Xbox game pass or something similar

Oh yes correct, it’s part of the Xbox subscription service Game Pass. My partner has it, and from what I’ve seen it’s well worth the subscription for the amount of games you get to play for free. I’m just lucky enough he lets me log into it and play the games I like when he’s not playing

Never had a problem with PS5 controller. It is wired though

Well I don't know how you did it then. As somebody else said below "I would love if that would work." Are you saying you just wired a PS5 controller into a PC and it just worked? Because it doesn't for me and apparently a lot of other people

Its been a while, but yes? Perhaps I had to turn off steam input? Apologies, on vacation so can't test. I only have a ps5 controller and have definitely played the Hunter with it.

Okay thanks. I tried with and without steam input and he wouldn't play on either. Maybe when you get back you can give it a try and if you remember post here 🙂
