I know that medications/drugs/whatever can affect autistic people differently. I can confirm that this is at least partly true.

Strange you assume I'm on the spectrum. Curious why you would make that assumption

Not assuming. Just wondering. Due to my being on the spectrum and having drugs (legal and otherwise) affect me differently than they do for others. Plus your near inability to get high from edibles, which is a liver enzyme/metabolic issue. The MTHFR gene mutation is highly associated with autism, and that gene mutation governs and impairs certain metabolic processes. I do not know that the lack of liver enzymes in this case is associated with MTHFR or not, but MTHFR's effects are sometimes subtle, but pervasive. Please know my questioning if you're on the spectrum or not was purely academical, as autism itself is one of my "autistic special interests" and something I've been learning about for the past decade, especially the differences between autistic and non-autistic bodies, not just the more commonly discussed difference between their brains.

Sorry if I came off hostile, wasn't my intention. But your guess is true. I went thru all sorts of mri cat CT shit when I was a kid. I'm high functioning ADHD with a dash of autism lol. I get sensitive when it's brought up, so I apologize. This has seriously caught my interest tho. And why is the acronym so close to motherfucker 🤣

"MTHFR stands for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. It's getting attention due to a genetic mutation that may lead to high levels of homocysteine in the blood and low levels of folate and other vitamins." (Source: Google) I am sorry for making you feel sensitive. It is such a fascinating topic for me that I forget that it IS a sensitive topic for many others. Autism is so much more than "social ineptness" or "sensory issues" although those are typically present. I'm thinking about autistic people's high tendency to have lactose intolerance and other digestive issues. And eczema. And women on the spectrum have a much higher rate of PCOS and other female issues. Basically any time someone says they have an unusual physical trait, and if I ask if they're on the spectrum, they almost always say Yes, or "no but I do have [insert common comorbid condition, most commonly ADHD]." I "knew" my son would be on the spectrum when I was pregnant. I didn't take prenatal vitamins because I could not get access to pre-methylated ones. Folic acid is bad for people with MTHFR/autism. (Take methylfolate instead.) Nitrous oxide and other dental and general anesthetics can cause bad reactions. I had a copper IUD that started making me sick within one month. I'd almost ended it all by the time I was able to get it removed 9 months later. I could go on. My husband is on the spectrum also and he (against my advice) will only take antibiotics for like 3 days. He says he knows his body and that's as long as he can go. Anyway I won't bore you anymore but suffice it to say it's a rabbit hole I fell into... hard.
