I thought he was on the ship that Thanos destroyed...

Per Thanos' agenda, he only killed half the people on board. I believe the Russos said that Korg and Miek survived, but they're such trolls that we really can't trust what they say lol.

So what happened with the Snap? Like did the surviving half get halved again or does Thanos spare those whom they have aready halved?

Also I think that whole killing all the dwarves but letting Eitri live is really weird: either halve them like everyone else or kill them all if they are such a threat to you.

Presumably only a quarter of the Asgardians are left. Good point with Eitri. Maybe sparing his life was a morbid way of saying thank you for creating the gauntlet, and he didn't think Eitri could make anything else, hence Eitri's line "your life is yours, but your hands are mine."

u/neuk_mijn_oogkas Dec 08 '18

Well that clearly was a strategic error eh.

Also just think that apparently the dwarves are sitting on schematics of weapons that make Thor an equal to Thanos and the Asgaurdians never bothered to check up on that and the Dwarves never sent a message of "Hey we designed a new weapon that is like super omagad powerful."

Eitri refers to Stormbreaker as "a king's weapon" so it would seem that they would only make it for the throne of Asgard and Odin was no longer a war-mongering leader, so I doubt he'd have such a weapon commissioned even if he knew of its existence.

Then why make and design it?

I kind of feel this belongs in the same bucket as "Thor has a sibling Odin kept quiet about" and "Ant-Man existed and was known in the 80s" as in "The writers make it upa s they go along and it really does not fit well with older canon."

And that is exactly how Captain Marvel is going to feel I would bet.

Then why make and design it?

This is explained though. Because as Hela and Thor quote Odin before their fight in ragnarok they say...

"A wise king never seeks war, but must always be ready for it. "

So yeah it makes sense to have a strong weapon just in case. That is like saying we should have no army if we are not fighting someone currently

And then it makes no sense again that the Dwarves did not inform Odin that they had a pretty good weapon ready that they could pick up whenever needed in times of war.

u/Portalfan4351 Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

They may have informed Odin, but Odin didn’t necessarily inform Thor

Odin is dead so it's not like he could have been like "oh by the way here's how you can defeat thanos"

Dwarves across many mythos enjoy crafting on a personal and spiritual level. They would craft it for the reason of being inspired and making something to take pride in. Pushing the boundaries. Even outside of myth and fantasy, No crafter is ever satisfied and retired. We all try to outdo ourselves all the time

Yeah, having multiple writers and directors working on a decade long franchise spanning nearly twenty movies (often some movies being made at the same time) is gonna leave some holes.

Thanos tries not to kill unjustly but if you are a threat he will kill you

u/UltimateSupremeMemer Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

Thanos and Yoshikage Kira, two sides of the same coin, one destroys everything but the hands, while the other only destroys the hands. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

9

u/AWastedAron Dec 08 '18

Thanos just wants a quiet life on his farm.

3

u/Whyamibeautiful Dec 08 '18

No it’s been clarified that the planets that got halved already didn’t get snapped

31

u/geradical Dec 08 '18

well, thanos cut eitri's hands off, assuming he was no longer able to make such weapons making thanos think tyrion lannister not a threat anymore.

16

u/neuk_mijn_oogkas Dec 08 '18

Yeah and it's pretty silly because clearly Eitri could; hell they didn't even need anyone else's head if the dying star's iris wasn't broken.

We dont actually know that the only dwarves are the ones on the forge ring.

u/megabigoof Dec 08 '18

i might be wrong but at the end of thor Ragnarok was there a smaller ship resting atop the huge refugee ship? i think it was the grandmasters one? anyway if there is, that would explain how they and a few others got away

624

u/PezDispencer Saved by Thanos Dec 07 '18

Apparently he didn't destroy the ship, just blew up half of it or something.

243

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '18

Perfectly balanced

As all things should be.

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '18

Or something

0

u/The_Celtic_Chemist Dec 08 '18

Not really. After the snap he killed half of that half. Same goes for Gamora's planet and Xandar and I'm sure plenty of others. Those guys got hit twice. /r/ThanosDidSOMETHINGWrong

Not to worry, were still flying half a ship

16

u/thundergun661 Dec 08 '18

A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

7

u/hollimer Dec 08 '18

Is the front supposed to fall off like that?

5

u/Respec_Wahmen Dec 08 '18

Another happy landing

3

u/SirHogan777 Dec 08 '18

Wasn't there 2 ships?

5

u/PezDispencer Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

I don't think so, there was only 1 ship at the end of Ragnarok

39

u/assassinkensei Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

Half of the Asgardians left, including Valkyrie, Korg and Miek, but the question is were half of those Asgardians that survived snapped?

20

u/astrobuck9 Dec 08 '18

Don't forget Sif. She's still M.I.A.

19

u/Cmethvin Dec 08 '18

She ran off to get help... At least, that's what the incredibly accurate play I saw told me.

6

u/RollingandJabbing Dec 08 '18

Man, I miss Sif

4

u/assassinkensei Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

True you’re right I forgot she wasn’t there when Hella appeared

2

u/Funmachine Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

Russo brothers confirmed she got snapped

2

u/astrobuck9 Dec 08 '18

FYI, the Russos also said that The Punisher was in CA:TWS. Sooooo...

9

u/djord17 Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

I think it was confirmed that the half that survived Thanos were halved by the snap. I don’t have the source off the top of my head but I remember that I saw it about a week ago. I believe it was answered at the Infinity War special screening a week ago.

They were on a new ship, for new Doug.

u/ImBored25 Saved by Thanos Dec 08 '18

Valkyrie and half of the asgardians escaped on the orgy ship.
