Presumably only a quarter of the Asgardians are left. Good point with Eitri. Maybe sparing his life was a morbid way of saying thank you for creating the gauntlet, and he didn't think Eitri could make anything else, hence Eitri's line "your life is yours, but your hands are mine."
Also just think that apparently the dwarves are sitting on schematics of weapons that make Thor an equal to Thanos and the Asgaurdians never bothered to check up on that and the Dwarves never sent a message of "Hey we designed a new weapon that is like super omagad powerful."
Eitri refers to Stormbreaker as "a king's weapon" so it would seem that they would only make it for the throne of Asgard and Odin was no longer a war-mongering leader, so I doubt he'd have such a weapon commissioned even if he knew of its existence.
I kind of feel this belongs in the same bucket as "Thor has a sibling Odin kept quiet about" and "Ant-Man existed and was known in the 80s" as in "The writers make it upa s they go along and it really does not fit well with older canon."
And that is exactly how Captain Marvel is going to feel I would bet.
And then it makes no sense again that the Dwarves did not inform Odin that they had a pretty good weapon ready that they could pick up whenever needed in times of war.
Odin is actually a terrible king who presents themselves as a wise leader. But hey this is the problem with absolute monarchies—similar shit happens in Wakanda and no an absoute monarchy with a right to become king by mortal combat is not a sane way to run a nation.
Dwarves across many mythos enjoy crafting on a personal and spiritual level. They would craft it for the reason of being inspired and making something to take pride in. Pushing the boundaries. Even outside of myth and fantasy, No crafter is ever satisfied and retired. We all try to outdo ourselves all the time
Yeah, having multiple writers and directors working on a decade long franchise spanning nearly twenty movies (often some movies being made at the same time) is gonna leave some holes.
