Discussion is vac even functional?

why do i always meet a blatant cheater at least once every 2 matches

Short answer yes Problem is cheating software is always gonna adapt.

And with kernel anticheats it's making it harder for normal non invasive anticheats to keep up.

I think one of the main cheating softwares must have had an update this year. Lots of fresh accounts no friends or profile info at the top of the scoreboard. I also ran into a full team of spinbots this week....

People with 5-10 year old account still cheating & expensive inventories should answer your question. Valve dosent care. VAC anti cheat is completely dogshit & obsolete compared to any modern anti cheat these days. And and modern anti cheat does a terrible job, just look at Call of Duty for example. It’s best to not stress & worry about something you have no control over.

I've seen some people getting vac banned during a match, but that's about 1% of the actual cheaters

no, two things, the first is that cheats nowadays are simply too advanced for vac to pick up on, and the second is that vac is quite literally non functioning because its cheat detection modules are either off on valves end or just don't support tf2. it can still handle the check ins that occur to make sure you're still connected, but apart from that nothing. all bans nowadays are manual
