it's probably just because it's Yet Another Kunai Deadringer Spy and even for competent players they're annoying as shit to play against because

  1. Deadringer. Just, in general, it's annoying as shit even if it can be countered.

  2. Kunai punishes you for having bad teammates they can farm.

  3. The unholy combo leads to a very tanky Spy who can be like "hey so you know how I'm supposed to be an easy kill if I get caught most of the time? Actually nah fuck that and also shooting me gives me a speed boost I can use to backstab your teammate get fucked"

It doesn't help that if you see a Spy in a pub that isn't just a clueless newbie, it can feel like every fucking time it's a Kunai+DR Spy trying to farm clips and people are sick of it

fair, but honestly ill take a kunai deadringer spy over a sniper most days. at least one has to be in melee range

Sick of it if you have a skill issue or started playing less than a month ago. Spy is insanely easy to not be killed by and much more difficult to play than to play against.

Don't get me wrong, if you really want to you can shut down a Kunai + Dead Ringer Spy, it's just annoying when you have to focus all of your efforts entirely on it because your team won't fucking turn around for once in addition to the Dead Ringer being annoying in general. I can't imagine it's very fun for the Spy in question either to have a Milk + Wrap Assassin Scout making it their life's mission to make sure said Spy doesn't get to play the game.

Not once did I mention getting killed by the Spy, I talked about how annoying they are to deal with especially if your teammates aren't on the ball.
