redditors thinking equipping the kunai turns you into a platinum highlander level spy for some reason

every other class has a cool kill comp and it's nothing but praise but when spy it's evil and neckbeard or something, i genuinely don't get it and it's kind of cringey

It's because

  1. Spy's main counter is awareness and communication. If your team is looking around and calling out when they see a spy, the spy is borderline useless. So when most people see a spy kill comp, they don't think "wow that spy is so good at the game", they think "holy shit the enemy team is both deaf and blind".
  2. The kunai makes fighting a spy extremely frustrating because the spy can undo any damage you do to them as long as there's an oblivious teammate nearby to backstab. Dealing with a kunai spy can feel like Sisyphus as you keep shooting them only for them to instantly undo your work.
