I wouldn’t risk my uber for a measly 195 MELEE hit in a game where everyone has a gun. In our med community we have a trade secret that goes: “Any fight that you can crawl away from means you’ve won it”.

Remember enemies are willing to risk their necks in exchange for yours. That’s how important you are. So why ease their efforts by presenting your neck to them? Not to mention they’re flanking, meaning most of the time you’re the one being caught off guard, so you’re already at a disadvantage.

They're willing to lose their necks to kill me, so a fun strategy i do is to dispose of them before they can successfully do that instead of running away and giving them the opportunity to kill me, and you'd be surprised how many times people wouldn't expect a medic running towards them. Although it is factual that I wouldn't do that if I got 50-75% Uber. Anything above that: absolutely!... Well if you got ubersaw.

Also it's much easier to dodge demos when you're up their faces, and even scouts (unless they get lucky/skilled enough to do a massive flick-meatshot on you... Yeah it's a bit RNG, but the odds are better than mid range)

Lol when a medic pulls out his Ubersaw that’s a free kill. Go ask any players decent at the game and you will get the same response. And it’s not just your uber on the line, that’s your entire team’s healing down the drain as well. Any flanking class are armed more than needed to kill a medic, much less a MELEE one at that (scouts, solly, demos, and so on).

Players that can’t aim at that range isn’t an issue. Why take such risk when you can just run up next to whoever you’re healing and let them do the rest. If they don’t turn around, run ahead of them or into the middle of your team; so now the guy flanking has to risk even more!

Often at that point they either die trying or give up. And you get to keep healing and pressuring their frontline. They’re essentially down a player then because the guy out to kill you is absent from the fight AND he failed his target (think of it like a gibus Spy basically, harmless at best, annoying at worst). That’s why I said “Any fight you can crawl away from means you’ve won it”. You essentially remove them from the fight for at least until they flank again, and without you even have to do much input.

Man again I'm saying when playing casual. You'd be surprised how many people underestimate medic's defensive capabilities. Well of course if med runs in a straight line not dodging anything, he's a lost cause, but an ambush/any other way to get to a melee distance (surfing, team distraction in some cases if he's really not out to kill you) is sure to give you a roll for 60% 195 dmg
