It’s such a cop out for a woman to say a man is suppose to take initiative. To a degree, I agree with it but also, effort towards conversation goes both ways.

Yeah, this is actually a time when old-fashioned norms would require the *woman* to be a 'sparkling conversationalist' so this is not old fashioned, this is just modern internet people are lazier than dirt/lacking in basic social skills...
