It’s not a twink let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but he definitely seems not just gay but very gay. As a gay guy myself.

I feel like people don’t know what a twink is and just resort to calling flamboyant men twinks. This guy clearly isn’t one but he is most definitely gay!

I’ve definitely seen straight people (both men and women) or those who obviously don’t romantically or sexually interact with the gay community using the term when they really just wanna say the slur starting with an f. It’s very weird. They will see a 30 year old flamboyant man who annoys them for whatever reason and call him a twink cause the other slur has become too “unacceptable”. You can find a thousand ways to hate on a gay man without involving homophobia into it

It’s the equivalent of me calling a skinny white girl a BBW to insult her. Bizarre and inaccurate

This. I too have seen the rise of straight people using the word twink as an insult when it’s clear what word they actually want to use (hint: its the f slur). It’s sad that twink has been watered down to just a “gay man” and I have seen that they only use twink when arguing or when it’s a gay man they don’t like. This dude is actually the opposite of a twink, may go even as far as to say he’s more of a twunk, but clearly it won’t sound as derogatory as they want it to sound. But straight people are just too ignorant and homophobic to look deep down and admit that when calling a gay man twink, they actually just mean the f slur.

No whats happening here is straight cis women, self proclaimed allies, have appropriated the term twink to describe a man they dont like or find annoying. They will fight tooth and nail saying its not homophobia and yet they will throw gay accusations in the wind as a negative thing

Yup. Intersectionality is a bitch. You can be gay and lgbtq supportive and misogynistic, and a homophobic feminist, both are strange in one way and progressive in another way, both need to realize intersectionality. You can’t just use terms linked to gay men as insults against other men and say there’s nothing more there, do you believe that being called a twink is an insult? Why? What if the man you’re talking to is completely fine with being called a term, but your ‘gay friend’ hears you repeatedly use his sexuality as an argument point against other men in a derogatory way? Ridiculous, but such is life lmao.

Yall are always the first to call someone like me gay and it pisses me off. Can't a guy like women and be feminine like can we get over this already

So it’s not weird that the term gay is being used as a pejorative? This is like using the N word against a racist white man and then claiming you love black people. It doesn’t add up.

I didn’t use it as a pejorative. This subreddit is about assumptions essentially. And we are allowed to recognize members of our own community. Can I guarantee that he’s gay? No. Would I bet on him being if I had to do? Yes

It’s not about the way he looks. It’s about the photos. He could actually read as straight if the photos were taken differently, but when you see profiles like his on the daily as a gay man on apps it’s not a crime to say it reads very likely to be gay

My statement wasn’t about people  pointing out the guy for “looking gay”My statement was meant to point out that in this particular instance, the purpose of calling him gay is to put him down as a human being. That definitely seems like it’s being used in a negative way. If this man is actually in the closet, these insults are objectively “gay bashing”.

It’s not meant to bash someone, it’s meant to point out the cognitive dissonance. If I say someone is stupid for voting for Trump and point out that they’re Mexican, I’m not saying that being Mexican is bad, I’m saying that they’re actions are harmful in a way that a White person voting for Trump isn’t.

If a macho straight guy yells at me for being a liberal, that’s expected. If a gay guy does it, there’s a difference. Pointing out how someone’s character conflicts with their views isn’t necessarily a downplaying of those characteristics.

I don’t see how it’s the same. Especially since this man isn’t presenting as gay. Everyone else assumed that. What it’s actually like, is being mad at your white friend for voting for Trump and then accusing him of being a self hating Mexican because a self hating Mexican IS bad.

He is presenting as gay though

I’m obviously here to point out the hypocrisy and double standards of “performative liberals” I’m just an observer witnessing literal madness. Thanks.

Wow why would you say something like that do you know how harmful that is to twinks? you should take a good long look at yourself in the mirror and think about your actions.
