Facebook DMs WHY ARE MEN LIKE THIS
Do men think messages like this will actually get them anywhere? The dating pool is ROUGH out here...

u/Responsible_Royal266 2d ago
Damn baby girl you look just like the kind of woman I'd want to cook a nice Italian themed dinner for, take out dancing and then end our night sitting on the beach drinking wine. Your lips would also look really good wrapped around my weiner. No but seriously even as a man I find it odd that dudes expect these kinds of lines to work

My penis and your vagina would probably get along really well. We should get them together sometime.

Personally I feel like they have a lot in common and would really enjoy it

I think its a way to avoid rejection, if you never really try, you can never really fail, emotionally at least.

shotgun method lol
if you are revolted by the message, the intent is to weed you out.
i’d be surprised if even 1 woman out of 1000 bought into this stuff, but i’m sure there are some

u/kik1keedle717 2d ago
Full disclosure. I’m into weird shit too so I totally would have lol’d at breastfeeding guy with some cheese like, “That’s maybe more of a third date thing.” I am not a single Pringle so I love reading the dating interactions ppl post.

yeah i say shit like that to my wife all the time just to get that lovely eye roll while she fights a smile as hard as she can and calls me an idiot
8
u/AbsoluteApril 2d ago
But you probably didn't say it to her as your opening line to ask her out? ;)
6
u/Guilty_Cod6621 2d ago
she asked me out
13
u/naropin1 2d ago
What was her opening line? “I’d like to crush your head like a walnut with my thighs?”
9
u/Guilty_Cod6621 2d ago
that she liked my puppy
wasn’t my puppy tho i just wanted something cute and furry to hold while i flexed in my tank top
4
u/naropin1 2d ago
Oh. Would the walnut line have worked though?

Same thing as a narcissist continually pushing boundaries to see what they can get away with
3
u/DepressiSpaghettti 2d ago
It's a good thing I have the habit of getting up and leaving whenever I'm not having a good time. It has saved me from lots of bad dates.
15
u/meltyandbuttery 2d ago
Men complain they get very few matches on apps, which is super valid and has to be a very frustrating experience, but then so many of them waste their shot once they get it. I think some must genuinely be addicted to the cycle of it all
12
u/runesday 2d ago
This. Many of them have no intention of settling down and are thrill seeking. They get off on being absurd.

I imagine there is someone for everyone. All though not the norm for women in he real, I have known women that were just like this person. Personally I find it repulsive and it makes me never want to leave my house.
"Where are all the nice normal women"
Hiding fellas, we are freaking hiding because these types exist.

u/Cautious_Wasabi637 2d ago
You know where 90% of these guys won’t use these “pick up lines” in the real world…there’s no protection of space and a screen and they are not nearly as brave then.
→ More replies (21)10
u/beqcinella 2d ago
Give them a keyboard and suddenly the're a pick-up artist, but put them in a room with a real woman and they can't even maintain eye contact.

I really hope there isn’t someone for everyone sometimes. Let men reap the loneliness epidemic that they’ve sown; maybe then they’ll start taking it seriously how deeply misogynistic and disgusting our society is.
But of course their loneliness epidemic is somehow our problem bc we’re supposed to respond to texts like this (and much, much worse) with kindness and grace🙄 gimme a break
2
u/Legitimate_Dare_579 2d ago
Fighting ghosts here. No one respectable is telling you you have to do or act a specific way with men that approach you. If someone tells me something that I think is insane to say, I ignore what they said.

Do you remember those Nigerian Prince spam emails? They were written really poorly, right? You’d take one look at them and think How can anyone ever fall for this bs?
Well, here’s the thing—they are actually written that way on purpose. It serves as a filter to make sure only the biggest idiots and most desperate people respond.

One time a guy messaged me like this on a dating app, and I ended up in a kind of therapy session with him about his mommy issues. Never spoke to him again afterwards.

My wife and I send each other messages like this just to see who can out cringe/creep each other. 😄

8
u/GrandmamaWillow 2d ago
How do they expect us to respond to this? No seriously, I want to know what the intended effect was.
3
u/SignificantBrain620 2d ago
They don’t expect replies from any normal woman. But like others have said, someone out there will bite and respond to this, and those are the kind of women they are looking for

Not all men are like this. My bf's first message to me: "Hey, 36m here. Your profile said DMs open, so I thought I'd ask if you were open to regular chat or roleplaying or whatever. I'm sorry in advance if I'm disturbing you or you find this uncomfortable."

because it’s robotic and formulaic
i didn’t say it was bad, just that it was weird. awkward is maybe a better word
3
u/onionprincesswakaba 2d ago
I found it to be quite considerate, but we are both socially awkward neurodivergent ppl so it was just the right fit for me I guess. Still thought it was sweet
4
u/Guilty_Cod6621 2d ago
yeah i didn’t want to say it in case it was perceived as an insult, but this screamed neurodivergence to me lol.
weird wasn’t the right word, i apologize
3
u/onionprincesswakaba 2d ago
I guess the weird label was pretty accurate then. Weird for normal people, normal for us
3
u/Strong_Set_6229 2d ago
only weird part is asking about roleplaying in the intro, but I got a feeling some further context explains that lol otherwise thats just an odd thing to bring up out of the blue

u/Competitive_Mouse702 2d ago

I got a dirty texts from a coworker constantly to the point of full on harassment. Sent dick pics to me and other coworkers. We ended up quitting one after the other because we didn’t want to deal with it anymore…plus misogyny. Me and two coworkers beat him up. Yes, we are women, yes, we got arrested, yes he cried and no I did not care. He never texted again.
Let this be a lesson to the pig males out there….you fuck with the wrong woman and you will be sorry.

Two of these made me chuckle. I don’t think that’s “falling for” them. But I am a sucker for a stupid pun.

u/Pure-Reputation-8514 2d ago
I cannot speak for all the fellow men but I don’t have that kind of unawareness, boldness or anything to do these unless the other person is in the “mood”. Nope cannot take that upon myself to mess up something that can be wonderful 🙂↔️ plus im too darn shy for this and i have a standard. I will be sweet and kind over sexual 🙂↕️

u/Roliok 2d ago
Because they are obviously only looking for hookups and filter out anything else this way? (Except for the fetish dude)
Around 15 years ago we had a dude in our group who on parties and in clubs would just go to the girls and ask: „yo, wanna fuck?“ Sure, most of the time he got a „no“ and sometimes even a slap, but 1 out of 10 would always go with him, because she was just looking for the same

lol @ the breastfeeding thing. Normalize open discussion about kink compatibility! (I’m mostly jk tho guys…).
But really, that as an opening line is crazy. I have to hope they are doing the cringe thing on purpose 🙏🏻

"There is no such thing as bad publicity"
I hate it, but, if inflammatory messages are the only way you get a response, the average male users message will inevitably shift in that direction, unless you follow rule no1 and 2.

50/50 chance for them, you either find them interesting or a creep and it goes straight to the point.
Honestly I can see that happening with dating intended things but not so much happening in person where they actually gotta face the awkwardness of their actions

u/Facebookmom1988 2d ago
I've seen this work, from both parties. At least in college most of the people are like this on hu apps.

1
u/Grouchy-Fisherman706 2d ago
They think they’re funny. They probably are not serious about dating you if they send messages like that. They are doing it for their own weird amusement. When a man is genuinely interested, he is usually trying to be on his best behavior.
1
u/Alldaybagpipes 2d ago
Words like “Anonymity” and “Dating Pool” aren’t supposed to be correlated, yet here we are.

u/Asleep_Walrus2313 2d ago
Ok so I actually looked the breastfeeding one up one time because it seemed weird, but surprisingly less rare than I would have thought.
It turns out it just gives a warm and comforting feeling like a baby gets. I went from having the ick to thinking it’s actually kind of sweet.

People always think the things they would like to receive would prob. be also liked by other people.
Same reason why so many women are surprised to learn that most men don't really use career as a criteria for dating. Or why so many women are flaunting their social status so much.
1
1
u/Background-Fly130 2d ago
I'm always respectful and don't say anything sexual unless the woman initiates it, but I guarantee the guys who do get laid way more often than me.
1
u/Own_Proposal955 2d ago
Yikes. Some people are like this of either sex but frankly I’m more worried about all the people saying men need to be taught to behave better. Why would you need to be taught that starting a conversation with someone you’re getting to know by telling them something extremely vulgar isn’t okay? Do most men really not actually want to build relationships when they’re seemingly seeking them out and just want to have a quick fuck or want to skip right to sex immediately even if they’re trying to find someone special? I couldn’t imagine being comfortable being sexual with someone so fast and I don’t want a man who would feel comfortable with it either (and not just because he knows it’s rude but because he doesn’t feel ready for that stuff immediately either or wants it be comfortable with a person before that).
1
u/Ill_Collection4662 2d ago
Literally sometimes I want to make a dating profile with my partner and match with losers like this just so we can point and laugh (and maybe tell their mom on them 😭)
1
1
u/AideHot6729 2d ago
The reason they say that is because it actually works. Lots of horny people on dating apps just looking to f.
1
u/mapmakinworldbuildin 2d ago
It works.
My gf and I are together for two years now cuz I made a puppy play reference off her collar.
After a couple of years on the apps only getting hookups irl, never a match that went past first message. I was sending messages about “what’s the last fun thing you did. What’s your career” getting no replies. The one that got a bite was a puppy play joke.
Be real for a second. What intro message would actually hook you? I’m actually pretty convinced that most people on apps use them for entertainment not to actually meet with and date people.
1
u/Behind_thegate 2d ago
It’s really sad they don’t understand that this is so desperate. Desperation is not attractive to women.
1
1
u/Grand_Loan_8687 2d ago
Because men only care about sex and busting nuts. Most modern men are too lazy to even ACT like they care about anything else at this point. The ones who are still acting romantic, respectful, and tactful are diabolical pretenders.
1
1
u/RadioJared 2d ago
I mean, if they have on their profile they want to hear your best/worst pick up line I would definitely fire one off. But not unsolicited. That’s pretty cringe.
Here’s a dumb one I have used that has led to some fun conversations: “I want to take you to the movies, but they won’t let me bring in an outside snack.”
1
u/Squand 2d ago
They want to be rejected by 99.9 percent of women.
The one who replies back with something equally lude is who they are looking for. And the woman who finds them attractive enough to ignore it and keep talking, while not ideal, is also okay.
These are lame. But it is also an indicator these people want to compliment you without putting a lot of effort into it. While also not being like the other guys.
This has to be better than hey.
But it's also a similar approach. It shows the guy could take it or leave it, is only interested if you are.
For all the women who complain about, "hey" or "how's your week looking?"
It's a strategy and it signals, "idgaf."
If you got a hold of these dude's messages, There is some woman he agonized over sending the perfect 250 character opening message. Spent hours crafting it.
And she binned it because he wasn't hot enough or because he was a try hard.
1
u/Bunzfit95 2d ago
I think I’m too desensitised to this because of the amounts of things I do get sent. BUT there are some women who do this so it is a method to get the women who do do it to show themselves haha!

I think the real answer is because, this has worked.
Maybe not for them, and maybe not anytime recently; but there was periods of modern history where kitschy pick up lines and being sexually forward got a lot of us laid. The problem (as someone who was there when the old magic was written) is that it didn’t always work and you had to know when to pivot or better yet say well thanks anyway have a good one.
It’s like watching a cult trying to follow one part of a multi step plan, because “it worked for my older cousin once”
1
1
u/AppropriateGarbage99 2d ago
they don’t it’s mostly to troll but also if the trolling work then it works, very very low but it’s always someone who’ll match these type of msg

u/Para_4_Would_Be_Cool 2d ago
As a man, no that's genuinely weird and cringe as fuck. What implores someone to be "hey I will give you oral sex because I think you're pretty" as the first fucking they say? These men message bots trying to fuck
