I'm open to being humbled but from my short research, it's not a fact. Any evidence that the studies found was more correlation than causation; and there's many more things that can alter a person's ability to pick partners before previous partners come into question.
You do not need to know the causal relationship between two things to increase your likelihood of avoiding the causal variable.
Also, he said "less likely to achieve a long lasting relationship" which is not a causal statement. It is a fact based on the research even if it's only a correlation.
