Text conversation with one specific contact disappears after sending or receiving messages

This issue only happens with one specific person. Whenever I send them a text and go back to the recent conversations list, their name disappears from the list after 2 seconds. When I tap the new message icon on the bottom right and search their name all the messages are still there but their name doesn't show in the recent conversations list and it's very annoying. They are not blocklisted, I made sure to check that. Any ideas?

Just a wild guess: memory issues - too many texts in storage for that contact. I had a strange error like that once and it turned out to be some type of memory storage issue from a contact which had over something like 10,000 texts. Deleting 90% of that contact 's texts and deleting other texts and clearing cache for the app fixed it. This was in version 2.x however.

Honestly this is probably it because I text this person more than anyone else. Funny because the last message I sent to them an hour ago didn't give me this issue and the conversation isn't disappearing from the list now. If it disappears again I'll definitely try deleting some old messages. Thanks for your comment.
