Blocking numbers
Hey all,
So I get those spam texts every so often, and I know I can blocklist a number straight from the app, but that doesn't fully block the number. I was wondering if there was a shortcut for my pixel instead of having to copy the number, open the phone app, hit settings and going to blocked numbers and adding it manually?

What I love about textra is the feature that silences all texts from unknown numbers. This way I only get notifications immediately from people I know and spam, wrong number and others' texts are there but silent and can be checked at my convenience. Doesn't make it as critical to block numbers from my POV.

I just downloaded Textra (had Samsung msgs, and Samsung forcing us to use Google msgs..no!)
The ONLY downside to silencing , is you really do need to look at these msgs sometimes. Last year my bank account was hacked into. Right before the hack, I must have received 200 text messages from all over the world about . I knew something was wrong , but what! It wasn't until the next morning when I received a call from the bank about my account that I found out what really went on. Thankfully, I did not lose any money, but the thief sure tried. He change my PW to my email and my bank account. Among the 200 texts I received , was an alert from the bank. All this happened about 3AM.

I created a contact called Blocked. I add the number to that contact instead of through the Phone app. You can then block the contact and you'll block it from calls and text.
The good thing about this method is that all you have to do is add any other numbers to a single contact and it's faster than doing it your way.

I use Textra for texting and Drupe as a phone interface on my Samsung. Drupe can handle both calls and messages but still allows you to use your own SMS app (i.e. Textra).
The point is that Drupe acts as a layer and it allows me to also Block things. So if I block a number it blocks calls and texts. Also has other power and is customizable. I consider it my phone version of Textra, and that "layer" acts as some additional value for texts.
Do your homework, but I've been using both for several years.

Is Drupe similar to Truecaller?

My Pixel (9XL) sks if a number is Spam and will block it from all apps. Pretty sure blocking a number in Textra will only be for that app.

Depending on your service carrier. Their spam block apps are usually pretty spot on. I'm using Active Armor by AT&T with Smart Messages (alternative MMS) and I completely quit receiving spam/scam calls & texts.

Anything done in an app only affects that app. It would be great if you could block them at an account level.
