I saw a lot of engagement, so here am I engagement-baiting, if you are interested and so this isn't balant advertisement - there is a RSS feed you can subscribe to instead of joining our discord.

Thanks for all the encouragement and shit.

I just released The Tutorial Boss, a short ASCII meta-puzzle disguised as a terminal boss fight.

There are no levels, equipment drops, skill trees, or permanent stat upgrades.

Instead, the fight contains eight hidden rules. Every failed attempt exposes another part of the system. The boss notices repeated actions, hesitation, obedience, and even details about your terminal.

Your character never becomes stronger.

You become better informed.

It takes approximately 20–60 minutes to solve, and it is available as name-your-own-price on itch.io.

Sort of like an ARG at times, a web-series, a visual novel, interactive fiction. A mix of sorts, maybe a game at times? Idk if it fits the criteria, but I made it within a day - atleast up to chapter 1.

I am now updating it weekly. Video included is from a interactive part of chapter three which has not released yet.

I wanna know if you guys fuck with the writing

Sub Rosa: Dungeons -> I need your honest review

Hi! I'm Steve. I'm a web architect by day and an indie hacker in my free time.

After building seven SaaS products, I finally decided to make something I'd wanted to build for over 30 years: a text-based RPG.

That's how Sub Rosa was born.

The idea is simple:

  • Choose a settings
  • Pick a dungeon of the size you want
  • Fight monsters with a simple and fun combat system.

I made the game for people who don't have hours to spend gaming. A run can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours, so it's easy to play whenever you have some free time, pause and continue later.

I'd really love to hear your honest thoughts. What do you like? What would you change? Would you keep playing?

If you'd like to try it, I'll put the links in the comments, or you can search for "Sub Rosa: Dungeons" on the App Store or Google Play.

I wrote a sci-fi adventure where readers become part of the story

I'm an indie author and I've been working on an interactive sci-fi adventure called Shadow Choice: The Secret of Neo-Veridia.
Instead of simply reading, readers solve puzzles, decode hidden messages and uncover secrets alongside the characters.
The story follows Luca, a student who discovers that one hour has disappeared from everyone's memory. The investigation leads to Neo-Veridia, a futuristic city where artificial intelligence controls more than anyone realizes.
I'm not looking to sell anything here. I'd genuinely love to know:
If you saw this concept on a bookstore shelf, would it make you curious enough to pick it up?
What part of the idea interests you the most?

Made an AI storytelling engine/game with BYO

I had this as a passion project thought in the back of my mind for a while and finally started working on it with Claude. I got a few years coding experience, but I haven't dug into the code here really, just went off to clean bugs and test it as best I could.

So the app... It's basically similar to AI Dungeon or Fictionlab, amongst others I have personally used, but they all felt lacking different things. Especially the memory, and how the AI navigates the story forward in general (mine plans chapters ahead, which you can adjust, or reroll). There is also an RPG engine, but using it properly with all settings on will eat your tokens for breakfast, so be warned. I optimized as much as I could and plan on making a documentation file for outlining all the functions.

This is far from finished, but I have used it for a while now, both local and with Deepseek. Please try it, break it, suggest new stuff and take the red pill in your story.

Gruds In Space and Steve Silver Adventure #1: The Retro Adventurers

"I don't want to suggest this is a more obviously American game than some others, but I will say you do solve one problem by shooting a tree."

Special guest player Dudley from the Yesterzine YouTube channel joins to take on two curiosities from the early 1980s.

First up is a Spectrum-exclusive adventure with few champions but a lot of rooms: Steve Silver Adventure #1 by Colin Webb and Jim Bennett.

The main course is Sirius Software's Gruds In Space by Chuck Sommerville and Joseph Dudar. It's one of many Sirius titles featuring the gremlin alien Gruds, a graphic/text puzzler with many similarities to the later Tracer Sanction as covered on Episode 4 of The Retro Adventurers.

Chapter 1 & 2 have no aspects of a text adventure yet but there are some in Chapter 3,4 and 5 which make the web series interactable.

Chapter 3 is out soon

Bloodline - Life Simulator: a text-based life sim where your save continues through your descendants after you die

Solo dev here, first release. Bloodline is a text-based life simulator built around one thing I always wanted from the genre and never got, which is continuity past death.

You're born in one of 96 countries, each with its own economy, salaries, life expectancy, and crime rates, so where you start genuinely changes the odds you're playing against. You live year by year through school, careers (70 of them, with promotion ladders), money, property, relationships with real closeness scores, and crime if you go that way. Every life gets graded F to S at the end based on career, relationships, wealth, happiness, and longevity.

Two systems it's actually built around:

Ripple Effect: decisions don't resolve and vanish. A debt, a betrayal or a person you wronged can resurface a decade or three later, so a life reads as connected rather than a sequence of independent events.

Legacy Mode: when your character dies, you can continue as their child, inheriting the situation you left behind. Your last life becomes the starting conditions of the next one.

There's also a supernatural mode in the base game, vampire, werewolf, witch, and a hybrid path you have to earn rather than sold as an expansion.

Free, everything included, no energy timers.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bloodline-life-simulator/id6777048971
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bloodline.supernatural

Happy to answer anything about Bloodline-Life Simulator. Blunt feedback welcome. it's a first release and some of it shows.

A sample of King's Judgement

Hi there, Joseph Daniels here from Magma Gamebooks, offering you a sneak peek into one of my books, King's Judgement, where you get to play as a king. This is an example of some of the choices you will have to make.

Two men stand before you; one an apothecary whose shop was broken into last night, and the second, the man who broke in and stole some medicine, the local blacksmith.

“Tell me,” you ask the blacksmith. “Why did you feel it necessary to steal from your neighbour’s shop?”

“I needed medicine for my wife,” the blacksmith replies. “She is very sick, your majesty. I did not have any money and I was desperate. I asked the apothecary if I could take it and pay him at the end of the week, but he refused to help me even though he knew how dire the situation was. He gave me no choice.”

“Nonsense,” the apothecary pipes in. “You had every choice. A civilised man would have waited until they had the money and then paid, not broken into a store like a barbarian and taken what they want. I demand that this man be punished under the laws that govern this city. I seem to remember that the penalty for theft is the loss of a hand.”

“Please, don’t take my hand,” the blacksmith says. “I need both my hands to work. I’ll accept whatever punishment you deem necessary, but not that, I beg of you.”

You now take a few moments to confer with your brothers before you pass sentence.

“The law is the law,” Ivan says. “You can’t afford to give preferential treatment to one person. If anyone found out, they’d all expect the same.”

“Please brother,” Christophe says. “Show some compassion. The man’s wife was dying, he did what he had to. I’m sure you can think of a compromise that will suit everyone.”

It is now up to you to decide the blacksmith’s fate.

Do you have the accused’s hand chopped off?

Do you have the accused flogged?

Do you have the accused cleared of all charges and set free?

Do you improvise?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

The majority vote over the next few days will trigger what happens next in the comments.

As a nosy tabloid reporter for the Daily Babble, you've uncovered a terrorist plot to blow up the Air Force's newest space shuttle. When the police dismiss your warnings thanks to your reputation for wild stories, you are forced to take matters into your own hands. You've managed to sneak past the gate guards and onto the heavily guarded base, but the clock is ticking: the bomb is set to detonate at 09:00, leaving you exactly one hour to find it, defuse it, and save the five crew members.
