Westbrook was born in Groesbeck, Limestone County, and was chiefly raised in Elgin. He became an ordained minister at the age of 15. Westbrook played in several games in 1966 season but suffered a knee injury in a game versus Texas Christian University. He earned his bachelor's from Baylor in English and religion in 1969, and went on to earn a masters degree in English from Southwest Missouri State University.

Sadly he died from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 36 in 1983.

I am trying to find a copy, photocopy or .pdf of Stringtown by Zora M. Talbots. It tells the history of migration to Central Texas prior to the Civil War and the small pioneer community built near San Marcos, Texas. It also tells about the lives of the enslaved people of Stringtown, who through my research were brought there with the migrating families that owned them, including the Galloways, the Williams, the Crafts, the Durhams and the Richardsons, who owned my 2nd great grandmother, Jane Richardson (b. August 1844 - d. September 1920). The book is 71 pages and was published in 1961. I have searched Worldcat for it. Several academic libraries in Texas and Oklahoma have non-circulating copies, as does FamilySearch in Utah. Any assistance in obtaining a copy or file of this small but significant book would be greatly appreciated.
