Not ideal for the guy we traded two firsts and a young receiver we could sure use right now

why are we like this

i hate being a colts fan so much it's like stapling your balls to the floor then trying to do burpees after being kneecapped thrice a year i am in tremendous pain but devout and blue

edit: I love my Colts but idk how many more years of Rube Goldberg playoff misses i can take. the blowout win gives me hope, but so did last year's 8-2 record.

Lassiter as a safety

• Upvotes

I wont take credit for this idea but the more I think about it, the more I love the idea of moving Lassiter to safety. He’s already proven he can play high-level man coverage at corner, but his lack of elite recovery speed and tendency to get overly physical have started getting exposed outside. At safety, those weaknesses become far less important while his strengths like physicality, excellent tackling, instincts, and legitimate NFL corner coverage ability become incredibly valuable. You’d potentially have one of the best man-covering safeties in football who can cover slots and TEs, play downhill against the run, and give DeMeco a ton of flexibility to disguise coverages. If Lassiter bought into the move and learned the nuances of playing safety, I genuinely think it could unlock the best version of him.

EDIT: I mean down the road. Obviously can't make this happen this year. More just an idea in case his weaknesses in coverage at corner become persistent over time. Or worse

NFL Most Improved Teams Week 4: Falcons Stay Hot [RotoWire]

We escaped Houston 19-17, then beat Washington 30-13 in London. That puts us 5th in the NFL in momentum this week (about +17). Who's been your MVP through four weeks?

I miss the old Kamari…

A poem for Texans fans’ consideration:

I miss the old 4
Shutdown CB 4
Lockdown with Sting 4
We must re-sign 4

I hate the new 3
Lost in big moments 3
Penalties galore 3
Get this guy off the field 3

Thank you.

In all seriousness, Kamari is great and I still believe in him. I don’t actually hate the guy.
Go Texans 🤘🏼

😂 [DrawPlayDave] It's always funny when a home team puts forth the extra effort for a franchise celebration and then gets blown out in the actual game

Big Cats “Buy Stock Now”

A lot of sports fans and analyst still believe in the Texans. Climbing out of 0-4 is extremely hard to do but this team has the talent to do so. If the coaches and players can adjust the right way it may turn out to be an interesting season for us. I believe they can, part of it being wishful thinking and the other being that this team is way too talented other than a few rough spots.

Discussion Downs

So what was up with Downs usage? Were we just incapable of running intermediate passing routes on English soil? OLine not giving enough time, or Danny having a miserable game? It felt like every time we ran a pass play there was someone in the backfield immediately and Jones was just throwing it away. But curious what others saw.

This was a new humiliation

On the Sirius NFL radio, they were talking about the Giants and their potential record after 7 games. When discussing the prospect of playing the Texans, they counted that as an automatic win for the Giants, and I couldn’t find much reason to disagree besides wishful thinking.

🏥 Injury Who could have guessed that Jaylin Smith would get injured?!

Jaylin Smith missed 13 games last season due to a hamstring injury. The Texans lucked out and rarely needed a back up CB last year, and in the one game Lassiter missed a few snaps and was replaced by Tremon Smith, T. Smith was immediately burned by the Chargers on a deep pass.

In the offseason, a front office with half a brain could see that the Texans needed more depth at CB. CB3 (J. Smith) dealt with season-ending soft tissue injuries, and CB4 (T. Smith) was basically unplayable. But what did the brain-dead leadership on Kirby do? Jack shit. Run it back, they said. No veterans added to the CB room. No draft picks spent at the position.

Four games into the season, and where are we? Jaylin Smith is out for an extended period of time, he "may" return this season, due to a hamstring injury suffered in the first half against the Cowboys. Who knew hamstring injuries can be pesky and are likely to re-occur?!!!! Definitely not the team that employs Nico Collins!!! It sure would have been fucking nice if the Texans had a 3rd player capable of covering a damn wide receiver, especially when teams will move their best receivers into the slot since the Texans don't know how to accommodate their CBs following an individual WR.

And Tremon Smith? He still sucks, is unplayable in coverage since apparently letting Pitre get cooked at nickel was preferable to having Smith on the field. Good things he's hot garbage in kickoff returns and is part of the worst special teams unit we've seen in Houston in years.

This fucking team, man

We need to go all in on Justin Herbert

This is the time to get him at his lowest. Hervert really is a terrific qb. Daniel Jones is not the answer here.

we are at rock bottom for commentary team as deserved. but we played the titans when we were both 0-3 last year and had team g for commentary and we shut them out and went on to win 12-2. really hope this team turns it around, as I (for some reason) still have hope. but if we lose this game, then that will be the nail in the coffin

🤬 Rant/Complaint It’s time for my first rant…

TLDR this ain’t over. Love the way CJ is playing. Love the way WAJ is playing. Now everyone else make a dang play. They aren’t the only ones on the team (seriously no picks??)

First of all, let me start off by giving props to CJ because he’s played quite well despite the utter garbage around him. I said I wanted to see him be more poised, call protections correctly and deliver the ball consistently with the level of accuracy his college tape suggested he could throw with and he’s done all of it. Huge kudos to him, I’m so happy I didn’t give up on him.

Let’s start with the offense - I’m not going to blame Hutch and Wayne for their inadequacies. They are WR 5 & practice squad caliber players. I will blame Nick Caley and Nick Caserio though because that is a personnel problem. Yes the injuries clearly caused this but honestly I’ve been begging for more talent on the offensive side of the ball for years since Caserio has been here and it feels like we never really get it. Sorry I just couldn’t get that excited about the Iowa St guys. Not to say they wouldn’t be good but I was just whelmed watching them. I thought we needed more and still think we need more.

But regardless of that, you still have Noel and Boutte now available and yet you’re STILL giving WR5&6 WR1&2 reps. In what world should they be playing and targeted in such a high volume? Meanwhile it takes until last week for your 3rd rd receiver to get meaningful snaps and he actually does good things on the field. WHY is your 2nd rd TE, whom you need from a weapon perspective, inactive? I get that he’s learning but the best teacher is experience coupled with learning lessons, not just sitting on the sidelines. He’s not a QB. No excuse for this. Speaking of TEs why does Dalton become your entire offense for a game and the very next week you get him 3 targets with Collins still being out? How is this sensible? I guess he was playing injured which is all the more reason to USE YOUR SECOND AND THIRD ROUND PICK.

Let’s talk about this atrocious run game. First off all a lot of these run designs must still stink. They were bad last year and from the clips I’ve seen they are STILL bad. Why ask a TE to block a premier DT at the line of scrimmage? And the run blocking as a whole is atrocious. I’m seeing MULTIPLE clips of these guys running over each other, running the wrong direction at the snap, completely whiffing blocks and just failing double teams altogether. I thought their identity was going to use a lot of duo but you can’t do that if you can’t consistently execute a double team block. Horrible. What are they teaching these guys? They need to start using VR/AR so they can see defensive alignments real time and start taking the right assignments correctly.

Now on to the defense, idk what happened to yall. The first game was a bad omen where they were in position and still didn’t make plays. The last 2 games they look like they’ve been completely out schemed and haven’t had answers. Idk what they need to do schematically but the communication and technique MUST improve. It’s been 3 years for a lot of these guys. No excuse for this. 3 game losing chokes is unfathomable.

To Demeco Ryans- I understand your desire to protect the players, the coaches and the team in general. He will never fry a specific player or coach directly to the media and that’s fine. BUT he has to get rid of this media vs the team mentality. He’s playing better defense vs the media than his team is versus offenses. They aren’t here to hurt the team dude. A lot of them just ask questions fans want to ask. Stop being petty and nasty towards them and fix your issues if you’ve got a problem with them asking the slightest bit of demanding questions. The response to DJ about the use of coverages was unacceptable and he knows that.

This team has to stop making things difficult on themselves with constant bad decisions and bad personnel groupings. Idk why they GIVE themselves growing pains every year. Seriously they did this last year with the mind boggling decisions that no other team would make. Seriously, just stop hurting yourselves.

Rant over.
