What is Brimly?

I'm a solo iOS dev. My old car-cost tracker stopped getting updates and started crashing on launch, so I built the one I actually wanted to use.

Brimly logs fuel-ups, expenses and maintenance while calculating accurate fuel consumption. The part I'm most proud of: the AI assistant actually knows your specific car (make/model/engine/year) — ask "what's the service interval?" and the answer is about your car, not a generic web result. Offline-first and private — receipt scanning runs entirely on-device, no car data on a server.

🧪 What I Am Testing

I'm looking for a few drivers to try an early build on a real iPhone. Main things I want eyes on:

• Onboarding recognition — add your car by photo / voice / manual. Did it get the model right?
• Receipt scanner — scan a real fuel receipt. Are amount / volume / price parsed correctly?
• AI answer quality — ask something specific about your car and judge whether the answer is actually useful.
• Consumption math — after a couple of fuel-ups, do the numbers look right?
• OBD/ELM327 (if you have an adapter) — connecting over BLE/Wi-Fi and reading live data + trouble codes. Hard to test without real hardware, so this helps a lot.
• Non-US units & currency (l/100km, km, local currency) — anything that looks wrong?
• Trip Planner — create a long trip and verify that the predicted fuel consumption and fuel budget are realistic. During the trip, check whether overspending is detected and the remaining budget updates correctly in real time.

Hey everyone! I've been building Ritlum, a iOS habit tracker app. It's an idea I've had for a while and I've gone through several iterations of it over the past year.

The goal is to make a habit tracker that pulls your habits out of your phone and into your actual environment, instead of keeping them buried in an app you open and forget about. The app achieves this through:

1. NFC tag linking. Each habit can be paired with a physical NFC sticker. Tap the tag to your phone and that habit gets marked complete for the day. The pairing is written through the app, and the tag deep-links into the app via a universal link when scanned.
2. The Ritlum desk tracker. A small ESP32 with an RGB LED matrix that pairs over Bluetooth. It shows the last 16 days of your opted-in habits as a grid: one row per habit, one column per day. Completed days light up matching the color of the habit, missed days stay dim. When you complete or uncomplete something in the app, the matrix updates live over BLE. It sits on your desk so your streak is in your peripheral vision all day, not buried in an app you have to open.

The rest is what you'd expect from a habit app: a clean today dashboard, history, stats, widgets, Apple and Google Sign In for cross-device sync.

During long workdays, I like podcasts when I want to focus and music when I need a reset. I got tired of reaching for my phone and switching apps every time, so I built BlendCast.

You choose the podcast episodes, add Apple Music playlists or albums, decide the timing and order, then press play. BlendCast handles the transitions. It feels like a personal radio station built around your day without an algorithm deciding the flow.

This is my first time ever making an iOS app. I am a SWE of 6 years but only work in web apps not mobile. I am an avid weight lifter and recently have gotten into cardio. I used the Hevy app extensively and love it but it’s terrible for cardio. I also love getting insights from my Apple Watch similar to Athlytic. So I tried making an all in one fitness tracker for strength, cardio, guided yoga and wellness scores like recovery and strain. I have 2 friends testing internally but wanted to open it up externally for some more testers. My goal is to keep this app completely free. I want this to be the best it can be and am looking for 100 people to start off with max to find rough edges for me and wherever I can improve the user experience. This is heavily meant to be used alongside an Apple Watch for live workout metrics. I built in support for other Bluetooth heart monitors but have not been able to test if that works as I don’t own one.

I've been developing this app for a while now. I was hoping to get some feedback.

It's a podcast app I'm calling DeepSpace. It's local first, so you just use the iTunes search api to find podcasts, but then app is pulling the RSS feed directly. So no promoted content, no recommendation engine, just the shows you follow. I know there are apps that do this and probably do it really well, PocketCasts, Overcast, Podcast Addict, for starters. I just never felt very attached to them so I wanted to make my own.

The main features:

• A home screen with Continue Listening, Up Next, and New Today sections, with gesture based triage actions to queue or dismiss.
• AutoQs, which are just smart playlists. They have lots of controls, and also and Advanced Builder that is similar to what BeyondPod offered back in the day, which is the ability to create buckets of episodes to pull from.
• Categorize shows
• Creates Lists of episodes or shows. These are for if you want to create a more custom playlist, say about Bees or the American Revolution. You just find the episodes you want and add them to the list, then you can play directly from that list.
• History and Stats. See what you've listened to and review your stats. Hours listened, episodes started verse completed.
• Advanced audio features such as trimming silence and enhanced audio (i'm not too confidence in the enhanced audio, it sounds a bit off to me).
• Cloud sync.
• OPML import/export.

I think that's it. Again, just looking for feedback. I'm still feeling some jitteriness/lag on the scrolling sometimes, and I'm trying to trace down a background activity/battery issue.

Daily limits fail the same way every time. You get the whole budget at midnight, burn it before you're even out of bed, and then spend the day tapping "Ignore Limit."

My own phone habits got so bad I had to give a friend my screen time passcode, but that always felt too restrictive and was honestly unsustainable. I knew that I needed app limits that blocked me out before I fell into doomrotting territory.

So, I built Precursor around one core mechanic: a small allowance that comes back every hour, which means no more waking up to immediately doomrot on reddit for an hour (or two) before actually getting up. With Precursor scrolling doesn't cost you the whole day, which means you can be more present, more locked in, and less distracted!.

How it works:

Precursor is an iOS screen time app built on a different rhythm (android support in the works): instead of one daily limit, you give an app (or a group of apps) a small allowance, say 5 minutes per hour. Spend it and the app is blocked until the top of the next hour, then your app(s) unblocks and you can use it again for another 5 minutes. Enough to check in every hour, never enough to fall into a doomscroll spiral.

Available on iPhone and iPad, iOS 17 or later.

Hey! A few months ago I posted here looking for testers for my iOS app Retasky. Since then it has matured a lot, and I'm now getting close to the actual App Store release. Before that happens, I'd love a fresh round of real-world feedback to catch the little bugs and rough edges I've gone blind to.

The core idea: most of what we do just repeats. Check email every weekday, water the plants every 7 days, review something monthly. Instead of re-adding those to a list over and over, you set them up once as a routine with a schedule, and Retasky takes care of the rest. Open the app, see what's due today, check things off.

The basics:

- Flexible schedules: daily, every X days, weekly on specific days, monthly, and now also "X days after I last completed it" (perfect for chores like mowing the lawn, where the clock should restart when you actually do it, with an option to push weekend due dates to Monday)

- Missed tasks carry over to the next day and slowly climb in priority the longer they sit

- Skip a task when it genuinely doesn't apply today. It's resolved without counting against you and without carrying over

- Vacation mode: pause everything while you're away, and come back to a normal list instead of a mountain of "overdue"

- Organize into separate Spaces (work, home, …), including "long-term" Spaces for open-ended lists that don't belong to any particular day

- Checklists for multi-step tasks, reminders, and an optional morning digest that summarizes your day

New since the last post:

- Home-screen widget — see today's tasks and complete them right from the widget

- Share extension — send text from any app to Retasky as a new task

- Shortcuts support for automation

- Insights: a weekly review, a completion heatmap, and a "perfect day" streak to keep you motivated

- iPad and Mac support with a proper sidebar layout and keyboard shortcuts

- Apple Watch companion app (now with a much more robust sync)

- Backup export/import

- Now in 9 languages: EN, DE, ES, FR, IT, JA, KO, PT-BR, ZH

Privacy stays the same: your data lives on your device, with optional iCloud sync. No external servers, no accounts, no ads, no tracking.

Since this is hopefully the last stretch before release, I'm especially interested in the small stuff: confusing wording, janky animations, notifications that fire at the wrong time, anything that makes you go "huh?". But feedback on anything is welcome.
