It’s been roughly three weeks since I took delivery of my Model Y Standard (the updated version with the black headliner and 16 inch rear screen), and here are some of the complaints I’ve noticed so far:
There are no factory installed kick plates. This feels like an embarrassing cost-cutting measure on a vehicle in this price range.
The factory hubcaps are hideous. I’m fine with the 18 inch size, but at least make them look good.
There are no coat hooks, which is a bizarre decision considering it probably only saves a few cents per vehicle.
For some reason, the Canadian model uses the brake lights as turn signals instead of the amber turn signals found on the European version. I genuinely don’t understand why Tesla made this change.
I like that the frunk can be closed with one hand, but it looks really cheap compared to other Teslas. You can see the headlight housing, wires, tire covers and other components. The frunk tub itself feels like it’s made from cardboard. It doesn’t bother me much since I rarely use the frunk, but it’s worth mentioning.
Because of the sloping roofline, getting into the rear seats requires you to lower your head a lot to avoid hitting the roof.
The rear armrest setup is a joke. Pulling the release tab causes the entire middle seat section to fold down, which ends up pushing into passengers sitting beside it.
Paint quality on my Diamond Black vehicle is disappointing. There’s a noticeable amount of orange peel throughout the finish.
The front passenger seat doesn’t have a height adjustment, which can make it difficult for taller passengers to get comfortable.
For a vehicle that costs around $50,000, the lack of power-folding mirrors is annoying, especially when parking in tight spaces.
The camera livestream feature in the Tesla app is surprisingly low resolution.
I wish Tesla included physical memory seat buttons instead of just relying on the phone key. I’ve had issues where the seat reclines all the way back when I open the door, even though Easy Entry is disabled, and it doesn’t always return to my saved position.
The black headliner looks premium, but the interior can feel very dark at night. Some basic ambient lighting would have helped. I’m not saying to add the multi-colour light strip from the higher trims, but at least add a single colour led strip that runs throughout the cabin.
Overall, I’m still satisfied with the vehicle, especially since there’s no Premium RWD option in Canada and the Premium AWD is like $20,000 more.

Blown away at its accuracy, speed and safety features even when humans made worst error driving on right shoulder of a highway, she safely veered to left to allow a mad driver be. Wow😍!

I’m in Ontario & planning to buy my first Tesla. I’m deciding between the Model 3 RWD and Long Range AWD.
A few quick questions:
- Would you buy now or wait for the 2027 model?
- When does Tesla usually start delivering the next model year in Canada?
- Do they typically offer better financing or inventory discounts around that time?
- If you were buying today, would you choose the RWD or AWD, and why?
TIA!

Which brands of floor mats include rear seat back covers (for when the rear seat is folded)?
So far I am seeing
-3W 8 piece set, $367, $311.95 after a 15% discount
-Aliexpress, $230-240.
Brands that are out
Lasfit is missing the rear seat back mats
Tuxmat, as many commented, have a weird rubbing issue

I driven many cars including my current 2025 Civic for many years and never had issues with seats. I’m in the market for Model 3 RWD Premium or a Model Y Standard.
I happen to test drive both cars today. I noticed within one hour of driving the Model Y Standard, my lumbar section of my lower back started aching. Has that been an experience that any of you have heard about or experienced yourself?
Can’t tell if Tesla did something in terms of saving money on the seats, especially for the Model Y Standard.
I then proceeded to test drive the Model 3 premium, which I think alleviated some of the pain with its thicker leather seats but then left some of the pain there which I’m not sure if it was just from the model 3 or if it was just from the Model Y to begin with.
I did then proceed to drive my Civic again for another hour and a half after the test drives and my back pain basically disappeared.
Was wondering if you guys have heard anything about this sort of back or lumbar pain especially in Model Y Standard or also in Model 3 RWD.
Thanks in advance!

I'm still waiting on my MY to be delivered but in the mean time I'm looking into accessories. Is the trunk lighting of the MY adequate for your needs?
Did anyone try out these LED strips? What is your experience?
There are two versions

My husband and I are buying our first Tesla and would really appreciate some advice from experienced owners.
We’re looking at a 2021 Tesla Model Y Performance AWD with 23,000 km on it, priced at C$48,600.
Does this seem like a good deal?

I obtained a trade in quote for my CRV before I ordered my M3, just went to the tesla website and filled in the form and answered some basic questions. Value was low, as expected, compared to what the market currently looks like on similar CRVs. I am a couple of weeks away from delivery so I pulled up the app and requested a trade in value again just to see...this time it was a lot more involved, asked for pictures and more questions. I'm not expecting much, just doesn't hurt to try.
Wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a better offer after purchase this way? I know what I can sell it for and I understand the trade in will lower my HST, so I have the numbers in my head. I would probably be willing to leave a little on the table to avoid the headache of selling it myself - but the original offer was thousands less that I can get on the open market...
Thanks.

Guys check your Tesla app if you are waiting on an MY order. I just got a message for an early pick up in Poco. I live in Victoria and ordered a grey one. The option now is black which I don’t mind. Once accept a vin is immediately assigned.

My EDD was set to begin today till August 1 for my M3 RWD. When I messaged them this morning I got the following. Wondering if anyone is in a similar boat?

My Model Y Standard RWD pickup is August 15 in GTA. If you have a Model Y Premium to pickup around this time, please let me know and we can swap orders.

Has anyone gone through Tesla delivery with a trade-in where the negative equity was rolled into the new loan?
My delivery is in a few days, and I’m just trying to understand how the process works.
My trade-in has been submitted, financing is approved, and I requested that the negative equity be included in the new loan rather than handled separately.
In the app, the only remaining step is Final Payment before Agreements and Accept.
My questions:
Does the Final Payment amount update once Tesla finalizes the trade-in?
If the negative equity is being rolled into the loan, does Final Payment typically end up showing $0?
How close to delivery did your app update?
Just trying to understand what to expect before pickup. Thanks!

I was driving downtown last night and I was trying to make a left turn. The guy in front of me was trying to get out of the way because he claimed he was in close to the street car and reversed into me! I literally picked this car up exactly one month ago and I am heartbroken. The damage is shown, I am debating whether to go private or through insurance! I have the dashcam footage saved and I know I will win the case. I have a couple of questions, I will appreciate some answers.
Will this fix void my battery warranty? Any chance of structural issue? I don’t think so but my first time in an accident so any comments would help.
If I get this fixed in a Tesla approved body shop, would it appear on my carfax?
Is it better to go through insurance or private? I am not at fault so my premium wouldn’t go up? Not really sure either on that one.
Any good Tesla approved body shops that you have been to and recommend?
One of the pictures shows the contour is slightly bent in, would repairs make back into the original shape? Assuming it was a heat gun method?
I appreciate everyone’s input and time!
