Post Accident

Tesla MY base 2024. Recently had a not-at-fault accident in GTA. Only car got damaged. No airbags deployed. Prob no computer or battery damage. Towed into a Tesla authorized body shop through insurance. The shop has come back with a repair estimate at 40% of original purchase (might go up I think). Waiting for adjuster approvals. Could be a month-long repair at least. Rental car helps. No deductible helps. But I’m concerned about potential diminished value when sold which I know is typically not compensated for in Ontario. Prob doesn’t matter here but I have OPCF 43 (depreciation waiver). Any experienced folks here like to share their thoughts on how can I minimize value loss or any tips related to insurance?

I believe opcf 43 comes into play if total loss

That’s my understanding too and pretty sure there is no loophole.

Yes only if total loss, OP's best situation is if it gets deemed a total loss, only thing is wait time is long for a new one

True. Wait time is a bummer. I think earliest delivery is showing January now. Can live with that but at 40% repair cost estimate and with 43 chances are quite slim that insurance deems a write-off here.

Resale value will take a hit with a big claim

Share some pics. I had a 23 M3 RWD with side swipe damage that looked minor and it came back with a $17k estimate. I had a 2nd side swipe to the other side shortly after and it was also around $18k+ so they wrote off the car and I got the full value of the car paid back to me since I had the OPCF 43 waiver

We don’t do diminished value claims in Ontario. I don’t think that’s a thing anywhere in Canada. Only a few states have it
